#wildfire near us now officially out.
- 5 hectares of Douglas Fir plantation burnt
- 90 firefighters(!) and 2 helicopters at one pointThe hillside was so inaccessible, local farmers helped out by cutting paths..
..And we never saw anything! 2 big hills are in the way, and luckily the wind never blew smoke over here.

The little digital weather station I got recently is showing the sun room is far too hot currently 33 degrees which is 6 degrees warmer than outside. But humidity is just 20% Vs 42 outside.
I have the French doors open too, but there's no breeze to move air about.
Temps supposed to hit about 32 outside today

#heat that doesn't kill causes neurological damage & traumatizes survivors when it does. It hits minorities, the poor, women, children, elders, & the chronically ill and disabled hardest of all. I hear one more privileged white boy on Nextdoor blow it off as "just the weather" ....

And speaking of underreporting, I'm guessing our "government" won't report out on #Heatwave2026 at all.

State of the river: 😬
This part of France is a *temperate rainforest*
It's barely rained here since March. Constant heatwaves. Extreme fire risk.
Thunderstorms forecast tomorrow, but after that *more* dry, hot weather..

Alarmingly low river, even after the big thunderstorm 3 days ago. Last night I took some pictures.
I've only seen it this dry once before: last August.
This area is normally cool and wet, full of bogs and little streams, moss and lichens dripping from the trees.
That changed dramatically since 2015: drier winters, hotter summers. The last few years: even drier, w summer droughts.

It hasn't rained here in a month.

The big wild cherry tree is shedding its leaves.
This is right on the hilltop, where I'd expect the trees to be stressed the most.
Context:
- France
- 3 heatwaves back to back
- Very low rainfall winter /spring
- Rained here *once* in last 4 weeks.The smaller pines are also yellowing and shedding their needles.
Today: a new heatwave begins! (No rain 😬)

Trying to shop for anything online, now we aren't part of Eu trading standards rules is like playing bran tub and none of the finds are gems.
I am exhausted searching for a decent 4 in 1 aircon system that doesnt require installing as my landlord wont allow them.
Any good personal experience recommends for something BTU9000 and over are most welcomed.
*sends brain into sleep modeThe real haste is because daughter with her chronic health issues and various medications pretty much only avoided a heatstroke by me ending up with heat exhaustion trying to keep her in cool places and comfortable. What a time not to be in full health.
