My wife's machine was having bad issues with thermal throttling, so we replaced her heat transfer paste. But the clips...! Her heat sink was awful, so we got one that uses metal posts instead of plastic clips, and her machine is running 10-15°C cooler now.
We were thinking about just replacing her computer, but now we've probably gotten a bunch more years out of her current machine.

I bought barebones #Minisforum UM 890 Pro and therefore it does not come with that fancy #DDR5 SO-DIMM heatsink that comes included with pre-configured models that have #RAM and #SSD included.
I kinda like the way it is designed and been looking all over the place but failed to find it available for sale. If anyone knows a place - it'd be greatly appreciated :).

I have replaced the noisy Toshiba fan+heatsink from my #Lenovo #Thinkpad #T430 with the quieter Delta #fan and #heatsink from the dead Thinkpad T430 that serves as organ donor for the one I use.
The fan noise was getting me crazy. It was unbearably loud. See this video for comparison:

Ich möchte diesen Monat den #Speicher unserer #Playstation5 (erstes Modell, weder Slim noch Pro) erweitern. Eine #SSD einzubauen ist jetzt eher nicht so kompliziert, das bekomme ich hin. Kenne mich aber mit SSD überhaupt nicht aus und wäre für einen #Kontrollblick von Menschen mit Ahnung dankbar. Die SSD die ich herausgesucht habe schafft 7100 MB/s und verfügt über einen #Heatsink. Ein Terabyte Speicher wäre auch absolut ausreichend. Ob das Teil aber Grundsätzlich Taugt kann ich nicht beurteilen.

This is my remote #backup #server. Yup, is a #laptop. A very old one, it has more than 12 years, and has been used as server, 24h for the last 6 years. It curses me every single day, but still keeps doing its job (running a #Debian stable with #sftp).
It has a very little and thin #heatsink, it clogs very often. I clean it once a year, but I should do it more often. But since it's at my parent's, this is what I can do. The battery still manages to keep it on for a couple of minutes in the event of a power outage, so it's able to shut down cleanly (but then has to be restarted manually by my parents).
