Hubby is doing all the room switch work despite the fact that I am home and able to help a little.
(I get it, limited space to work it's easier just to groove and do your own thing).
So, I'm gonna make Pad Thai for dinner instead of another night of takeout or leftovers.

Would folks have any interest in like... hosting debrief type blog posts?
Where I talk about what worked, what didn't, and changes I can make immediately plus stuff I wanna work towards?
I feel like a lot of people my age and under don't really know how to host. Both fancy dinner parties but also anything that might be a step above a "come over and hang and we'll see what happens". And no diss on the hangouts, love those... but sometimes it's nice to host!

Invested in another 4 bowls and 4 plates to hopefully match my current 4 (I know the bowls match, hoping the plates will be a decent match).
Picking up fabric tomorrow to sew a tablecloth for the folding table, and some linen napkins.
Looking forward to getting back into hosting dinner parties again. I love thinking about hosting and strategy (planning) as a hobby.
Mailed invites for the first one going out tomorrow I hope.

Looking forward to a Hobbity day of baking and cutting out fabric for various garments.
Prolly add in a lil board game this evening, and for sure more episodes of The Other Bennet Sister.

According to hubby I nailed the hot and sour soup, which is awesome.
We have struggled to find a good takeaway with it here (he is picky about the hot to sour ratio!). It is one of his comfort foods, especially when he's feeling run down.
So I'm feeling a great sense of pride that I managed to make it just how he likes.

Super productive day after managing to go back to sleep this morning.
Made new England rolls for tonight's dinner. Baguettes for tomorrow.
Have potato slices drying out to make fresh crisps for dinner.
Also did all of the laundry (sheets, towels and clothes!), cleaned the living room, gave the couches a refresh with hypochlorous acid water (I love my Nellie's 99).
Now we're curled up watching f1 sprint quali.
Absolutely lovely Friday.

I got a new waffle maker that can do four at a time (perfect for this family of 3)
The wreckage of today's brunch.
I made overnight sourdough waffles and then did a topping bar: homemade caramel, whipped cream, strawberries, choco chips, ice cream, butter and syrup. -

A lazy Sunday is on the agenda today.
Will be tracing out patterns for the costume commission I got. Possibly cutting some or all of the muslin for the toile. (back pain depending)
Set some sourdough bagel dough proofing last but idk if the starter was active enough. It's been cold.
Gonna start my junk journal while we watch the f1 race later in the afternoon.

We started making dinner a little more whimsical lately by always lighting candles. 10/10 recommend
Also kicking off my birthday week with homemade crab rolls, another excellent choice.
Life is good in the Shire.

Thinking about doing a shop from my freezer challenge for the two weeks leading up to the spring equinox.
Feels seasonally appropriate and is right in alignment with my hearth witchery.
Anyone wanna join me?

I am become Crow Friend!!
We went on a little walkies today and partway thru a crow perched near us and started cawing loudly.
We reached the house and I put Dexter away then called "Hey crow" like I always do and two of them SWOOPED down to the yard before I even tossed the peanuts.

I retreated inside to watch from the kitchen window and they were fighting over the peanuts. So I grabbed more, went to the door. They hopped away but didn't take flight.
Tossed a couple more, calling "hey crow" and went back inside to watch.
It's so fun watching the dynamics of the murder. Some obviously have higher rank than others. I think one might be the baby that was hanging around this summer. They were the last to get some peanuts.

So I heard some cawing while I was tidying up from lunch. Grabbed a handful of peanuts and went to the front door. Opened it and said "Hey crows" like I always do.
Immediately crows from down the block came swooping towards the house, perching on the roof, trees, powerlines. About a half dozen.
Tossed the peanuts and they immediately came down to start eating.

Oyakodon is one of my favourite meals to prep. I love all the little pans, and the way it's so organized. Everything about it fills me with joy.

Woke up and used probably my entire shoulder movement allotment for the day by getting stew on the stove and mixing up sourdough dumplings for it.

Two of them had mild explosions, but I think I figured out the trick to sealing them properly.
Hubby and son confirm they are delicious.

A friend is having surgery next month and I'm on the meal train to bring them stuff.
One of the recipes I'm testing is a cream cheese stuffed bagel. Apparently it freezes quite well.

Imho tho, $2 for a burrito which I can serve with a side of mexican rice and a salad is an extremely reasonable lunch or dinner option.
I also made some dairy-free filling with Daiya cream cheese and no wraps for me to freeze into 1/2C souper cubes for an even easier meal on top of rice in the future.

Just prepped 24 chicken, cheese, and bean burritos for the freezer.
Works out to about $2 per burrito which isn't awful. Actually technically it was cheaper than that because I got the tomatillos and onion for the enchilada sauce that I used in the filling in my odd bunch box.
There are probably ways I could stretch it even further, like adding rice into the burrito. Or even more beans.

So I think I'm getting sick :( but it hasn't hit (hubby was sick and is on the mend). In preparation I have got chicken marinating for tomorrow, mixed the carrot and daikon salad, made the sauce, and the baguettes are on the first proof.
All the that's needed to make banh mi tomorrow will be to airfry the chicken and cut it up. Assembling them will be a piece of cake for hubby or kiddo.

Hobbit Holiday
Step 1:Stuffing mixed, using homemade sourdough bread - I am very excited for this. I like to let everything vibe together for a few hours before cooking.
Step 2: Garlic peeled and now into the oven in a small dish with fresh thyme from the garden and olive oil so I can make the world's best mashed potatoes later.
All this while watching birds flit around my feeder in the yard and a crackling fire (on the telly, lol).

We don't do Christmas in this house... But we are having turkey today because turkey is cheap this time of year. Also it's yummy. And also...
This witch needs some bones.
