  1. Just found out I can't get my COVID booster until the end of October at the earliest, even though I'm high risk and due for one. What the fuck, Ontario? #HealthcareOrLackThereof #Ontario #Covid #CovidBooster

  6. WTAF. I called the pharmacy to let them know my HRT hasn't been delivered. They told me the doctor hasn't faxed them with proof of prescription renewal. And this week, the nurse let me know she was sending a fax to the pharmacy to renew the prefect for three more months.

So the pharmacist told me that the d have to call the doctor again. I explained that the doctor's office won't be open again until Tuesday, and i would be out of meds by then.

The pharmacist checked my files to make sure I've been on this for an extended period. Then she agreed to make the executive decision to give me a refill so I don't have to spend the holidays in absolute withdrawal misery, because cutting off hormones suddenly is baaaad. Yeah. I'm aware.

Time to go to the pharmacy. I won't believe this is over until I have meds in hand. I've been struggling with this for over a month with numerous doctor visits and a LOT of phone calls. #HealthCareOrLackThereof #WildGooseChase #menopause #HRT

  7. My quest to refill my HRT prescription just hit another obstacle. I've been to my family doctor twice over the past month to get a refill. I was denied the first time because I didn't have my prescription codes with me, and the second time because the prescription was with my OB-GYN. I've phoned my OB-GYN several times, and finally got a nurse contacting me back to say I had nothing to worry about. My prescription would be refilled and I wouldn't have to suffer from going cold turkey.

Just got another call from the office of my OB-GYN saying that I can't get a refill without first seeing my OB-GYN. So I said, ok. Let's book an appointment.

Not possible without a referral from my family doctor because it's been over two years since I last saw my OB-GYN.

How come I wasn't offered the option of a followup in the past two years?

    No idea, said the nurse.

So now I have to go to my family doctor's office, which is always full of sick, unmasked people to ask for a referral to a doctor who might not be able to see me for months.

    I'm expected to suffer.

I hate this medical system so much. #HealthcareOrLackThereof #OntarioHealth

  12. OMG. The incompetence/crookedness continues. I got my shot no problem, but when Pharmasave ran it through the system, it showed that Shoppers had already given me my flu shot. And Shoppers had also billed for it despite not administering the vaccine.

Fortunately, Shoppers had given me back my paperwork which they would otherwise have kept. so I could prove it hadn't happened. And yet they had marked down a time saying when they'd given me a shot.

    WTF encore.

Do not go to Shoppers if you can help it. I've had soooo many bad experiences with them. Go to an independent pharmacy.

  13. They've changed the rules. I can get a COVID vaccine because I'm Indigenous and have immune issues. Before, household members qualified. Now they don't. And yet people who qualify aren't bothering to get vaccinated and people who want to aren't being permitted. Imagine if you were a cancer patient and your partner isn't allowed to get a booster to help protect you. What a fucked system. #covid #CovidBooster #HealthcareOrLackThereof

  14. Very frustrated. The new COVID vaccines are available for high-risk people, but when I tried to book an appointment, the person on the line had no information on where I can get my booster shot. I was told I'd need to call each pharmacy to find out.

Why the hell doesn't Ontario's vaccine program have that information? I don't have the energy to call every pharmacy in the Waterloo region. How is this acceptable? The healthcare around here is a total joke, and not a funny one.

Does anyone know what pharmacies might have the new vaccine yet? I already have long COVID, and I know a lot of people who've recently caught COVID. I do NOT want to get infected again. My quality of life will take another dive. ontario.ca/page/covid-19-vacci

Edit: I have found that only Shoppers Drug Mart can do it. This is a weird monopoly and I don't like it, but at least it's available. I don't know why the Ontario COVID hotline doesn't have this information. What a clusterfuck. Link in the comments.

  15. I have a prescription that needs to be renewed. I called the doctor explaining I’m sick/contagious and shouldn’t come in. They told me I have to come in anyway because prescriptions can’t be filled online or over the phone. I stressed that I am sick and would be putting other people’s health/life at risk if I went in, and am not comfortable doing that.

They repeated that I must come in, anyway. I told them that I’d just have to go without my meds because I can’t in good conscience do that.

I asked them if they had COVID tests, and they said no, to go to a pharmacy for that. I told them Service Ontario has ended that program and is no longer distributing them. They basically said, no idea. None here.

This system is so fucked up.

  16. It’s official. The government has thrown us under the bus. This is the email I got back when asking where to find COVID self tests. #Covid #HealthcareOrLackThereof #CovidSelfTest #ServiceOntario

  17. The Canadian healthcare system continues to deteriorate as it becomes privatized and more tests aren’t covered by the govt. I’ve had to pay over $600 this week for medical tests and devices. Healthcare has become something only people with a certain amount of money can access. I am grateful I can afford it right now, but what of the people who can’t? #HealthcareOrLackThereof #CanadianHealthcare
