It’s really interesting how they use their clothes’ colour to signal various things. White. Black. Grey. Mottled black and white. Putting on a black coat to hide the grey.

It reminds me of The Devil Judge, though in that case it was everything—clothes, lighting, sets.

@bougiewonderland this is, I believe, a major cultural difference, highlighted in various k-dramas, between Western societies and South Korea.

When a parent remarries, they're often required to leave the kids behind, either with the other parent or the grandparents.

In this case the kid is also branded as a murderer's son, which complicates the situation even further.

Personally I'll never understand how a mother could remarry, disappear and leave her son behind.
