I picked up a second set of Yamaha HP-2 orthodynamic headphones from the ebay... interestingly, this new set has circular holes in the driver vs my older (and I guess less common) square holes.
Unfortunately, while taking the new set apart for cleaning/felt replacement, I discovered the driver has a gnarly crack down the middle. I guess I won't be able to give them a true comparison listen after all. :(

Anyone on here got Sennheiser HD-650, or Drop HD-6xx?
If you do, have a think about getting the mod kit from CustomCans; it’s a simple install, pretty inexpensive, and elevates these already great cans.
They now have more sub-bass presence which they lacked before, and all the bass sounds more controlled.
