    Linux can actually do 4K 144hz on AMD... But unfortunately due to the HDMI Implementers forums restrictions, it only works on DisplayPort. - they wanted to do an OSS implementation of HDMI 2.1 but the bastards who control the standard refused to allow it.

    Basically... If anyone gets an #AMD #GPU, do yourself a favour and get one with as many #DisplayPort ports as possible. Then if you NEED #HDMI you can use a Displayport to #HDMI2.1 adapter for support
