I’m trying to get through the #WNBA season without access to ESPN.
Currently getting by with #WNBALeaguePass (the app quality, or lack-thereof kills me) and over the air broadcasts.
I picked up a SiliconeDust #HDHomeRun network-attached TV tuner that’s plugged into my router. Even with a very cheap/tiny antenna it works pretty well.
I can use the HDHomeRun app on my devices/set-top-box/computer and I also added to my #Jellyfin server so I can access it off-network via #Tailscale.

I’ve opted out of sports. I watch tv with #Philo an use #hdhomerun for locals. I don’t miss it either. The greed is too much.

Ah, the joys of #cablecutting My wife complained that the #silicondust #hdhomerun tuner would not change channels. Cue the house #sysadmin. After an hour uninstall/reinstall, power off/power on, seeing if the tuner worked on my android app, and checking to see if worked on my apple app, I logged on the SiliconDust forum. Turns out a bad update to the app was sent to #roku users on April 7th. An update has been submitted, but Roku has not released it.

This weekend's project: running another DTV feedline from the roof, down to a gas-discharge surge arrestor, into the house, through the crawlspace, and up into my home office, to a second HDHomerun tuner.
We live 5 miles away from SFO airport, and 0.5 miles away from an electrical substation, which causes unique OTA TV reception problems. I managed to solve the vast majority of them with stacked Yagi antennas spaced a wavelength apart fed into a combiner, but this arrangement picks up multipath noise for two channels and renders them unwatchable.
This feedline is for a separate antenna, not combined with the other antennas, which will be configured specifically for those two channels (KPIX and KBHK, which broadcast from the same antenna on Mt Sutro). The HDHomerun app is smart enough to pick the right tuner for the right channels, hopefully solving this problem for good.

It's a little disturbing to think that w/ an IPTV box, I could mirror the IP stream onto my network and the IPTV box would be able to receive/decode them. Though just realized that AC-4 might be an issue.
The cool part is that currently, 4 major broadcasters are on a single RF channel, so a single tuner would get most of the local channels.

alp-pcap: Pcap packet capture of ALP frames (full mux).
ipv4-pcap: Pcap packet capture of IPv4 frames (full mux).
dash-tar: TAR archive containing DASH segments (selected virtual channel). -
