AMD stawia na efektywność energetyczną i nowe partnerstwa w erze AI
Według Międzynarodowej Agencji Energii, zapotrzebowanie na elektryczność ze strony centrów danych wzrośnie ponad dwukrotnie do 2030 roku, osiągając poziom około 945 terawatogodzin.
Liczba może wydawać się abstrakcyjna, ale dla porównania roczne zużycie energii elektrycznej w naszym kraju w 2023 roku wyniosło około 170 TWh (terawatogodzin). Sami widzicie zatem, że ponad 900 TWh to… całkiem sporo.
W odpowiedzi na te wyzwania, firma AMD traktuje dążenie do tworzenia jak najbardziej efektywnych energetycznie rozwiązań jako priorytet, co stanowi rdzeń jej strategii rozwoju produktów. Firma AMD ogłosiła, że z nawiązką zrealizowała cel inicjatywy 30×25, której celem była 30-krotna poprawa efektywności energetycznej przy trenowaniu AI oraz w systemach superkomputerowych do 2025 roku, względem technologii wprowadzonej w 2020 roku. Udało się uzyskać aż 38-krotną poprawę efektywności energetycznej.
Teraz AMD podejmuje kolejne zobowiązanie, celujące w 20-krotną poprawę efektywności maszyn rackowych przy trenowaniu i wnioskowaniu AI do 2030 roku, względem poziomu z 2024 roku. Ma to pozwolić na uruchomienie typowego modelu AI, który obecnie wymaga 275 szaf, na zaledwie jednej, co przełoży się na oszczędność 95% zużycia energii elektrycznej.
Ponadto, AMD poinformowało o nawiązaniu strategicznego partnerstwa z HCLTech. W ramach tej współpracy powstaną wspólne laboratoria innowacji, programy treningowe oraz centra rozwojowe. Ich celem będzie otwieranie nowych możliwości i maksymalizacja efektywności operacyjnej w biznesie. Połączenie technologii AMD z doświadczeniem HCLTech ma na celu tworzenie wyspecjalizowanych rozwiązań wykorzystujących potencjał sztucznej inteligencji, chmury obliczeniowej i zaawansowanej analityki, co ma przyspieszyć cyfrową transformację przedsiębiorstw na całym świecie.
