  1. Some recent Logs: Rock Music on HCJB, VoA Editorial on Radio Martí

Just like the Canadian Ham operator says, "wire in the air, signal in the air". That’s true for mere listeners, too, even if our setups may be much simpler than those that go on the air.

The following are some recent logs, recorded in northwestern Germany.

August 15, WWVH, Hawaii time signal station, 15,000 kHz, 34333, full station ID at 06:59 UTC.

August 16 and 23, Radio Rebelde, a bit less than 5025 kHz, 25332 and 15321 respectively, but with usable modulation, 02:05 and 03:35 UTC.

August 16, WBCQ, 5130 kHz, 25333, 02:32 UTC, agitated talk every detail you never wanted to know about porn.

August 16, New York Radio, 5520 kHz, 35443, clear station ID, three-keys tune, then sign-off.

August 16, WRMI, 5950 kHz, 45433, 03:10 UTC, "Cruisin’ the Decades", a program with one song per decade of the past 100 years.

    August 16 and 23, HCJB, 6050 kHz, 35333 and 25432 / 03:15 and 04:05 UTC respectively, with rock music.

August 23, Radio Martí, 6030 kHz, 45433, 04:01 UTC with a "VoA Editorial" in Spanish.

August 23, 41 meter band, 04:19 to 04:29 UTC, an Italian calling CQ contest on 7153 kHz, and a Romanian doing the same on 7185 kHz. Probably the YO DX HF Contest 2026, hosted by Romania. It only runs from 12:00 UTC on Saturday to 11:59:59 UTC today (Sunday). Itallian and Romanian are probably the languages closest to each other in Europe, with the possible exception of Austrian, German, and Swiss German.

    August 23, WBCQ, a hobby historian about world-war 2.

August 23, WRMI, 7780 kHz, 35333, shortwave antenna commercial, then "WRMI Legends" (a non-stop playlist).

    They keep going backwards, too.
For the longest time it was home to an international religious broadcaster, #HCJB, til it got too hot for even them--making it clear they saved no souls there.
