Hull's wages have almost tripled under the new owners. Last season these shot up £7.1m (24%) from £29.6m to £36.7m, presumably including compensation for the changes in manager, which was a new club high in the Championship #hcafc

City’s wage bill shot up £5.9m (25%) from £23.7m to £29.6m, which means that wages have more than doubled under the new owners, reflecting the substantial investment in the squad #hcafc

City’s £21.2m revenue in 2023/24 was the club’s highest revenue outside the Premier League in a season without parachute payments. However, this is around £100m lower than the last season in the Premier League #hcafc

Has the sacking of the season come from Hull City?

#HCAFC, who you may remember dispensed with the services of Liam Rosenior at the end of last season despite finishing seventh, three points shy of the promotion play-offs, ditched his successor Tim Walter this week after 17 league games with the club third-bottom of the table.

Seems like a fair call, but you’ll have to go a long way to find a bigger U-turn in terms of a club’s owner publicly backing their manager.

Here’s a timeline of events…

6.37pm on Tuesday: Hull’s owner, Acun Ilicali, is live on BBC Radio Humberside before the home match against Sheffield Wednesday and the big topic of discussion is the team’s awful form and Walter’s position as manager.

“Everything needs time. We don’t feel like we (the team) are playing bad. It’s not right to blame somebody personally — it’s not all his (Walter’s) fault; it’s everybody’s fault.”
