The historic district of Riga, known as "Maskachka," is so named by locals after its main street, Maskavas (Moscow Street). This district is infamous for having been the site of a Jewish ghetto during the occupation. My parents spent their childhood here after WWII, and so did I (although we didn’t live there; I went to school here).
Then we moved away, and “Maskachka” became infamous again in the late Soviet era and early 1990s due to crime.
We moved back closer to these places in 2018, and since then I’ve sadly watched the neighborhood disappear year by year. The old houses are being destroyed by time and “accidental” fires. The neighborhood is literally vanishing, even though it could have become one of the city’s most interesting historical and tourist destinations.
I also visit this place every time I come to Riga, and each time it gives me more and more reason to be sad.Shot on fomapan 100 @ISO64, HC-110 1:63 developed.

> In #Lilaste. Lilaste is a place I’ve probably loved endlessly since childhood. This is where my father and I put out a fire when I was 5. This is where I ran away to when I was 13. This is where my friends and I, now grown up, would hang out for hours on end. I always come here whenever I’m in #Latvia. #Fomapan 100 film @ISO64, developed with HC-110, 1:63. #filmphotography #analogphotography #hc110

Finally, I've got my latest films developed and scanned. I disassembled my scanning rig in hope to get soon EFH (The Essential Film Holder #essential_film_holder), but it took 3 months to perform simple laser cut on plastics and ship it with Royal mail... What can I say? EFH is a good thing, but 3 months to wait is way too long. Too long. From the other hand, I still cannot use my copying stand with it because of not having enough hight. So, finally I assembled back my old good scanning rail and copied all 150 negatives 😅.
One thing makes me happy is that cheap #fomapan #fomapan100 film. I run out of my previous developer Fx-39 #fx39 and bought that new for me - HC-110 #hc110, a German-made replica of original Kodak developer. And other great thing was to shoot 100 film at ISO64 and develop at dilution 63:1. This gave me fantastic contrast and negative density I like so much. I bought bulk roll of fomapan 100, happy with it so far.

One of these things is not like the other…😅
I also reduced my dev time by 15%. With #XTOL I didn’t really have to worry about that switching to rotation, but #HC110 seems a lot more sensitive to it based on the other negs I’ve scanned so far being super dense. It looks to me like I could have reduced it further - but it’s hard to tell given these were shots of dark mountains and bright skies. The two shots where it appears I clearly metered on the mountains look the best so far, but I am still looking forward to seeing how these scan.
I need to go take some pictures of some familiar spots with this film and developer combo to be a better benchmark. #LargeFormat #DevelopYourOwn
