Will Hays had nothing to do with this move. He never starred in a movie. He never wrote, directed, or produced a movie. He was a politician and chairman of the Republican National Committee before becoming the first chairman of the Motion Picture Producers and Distributors of America. He’s best remembered for the Hays Code, a set of moral rules that films were required to follow. I thought there could be no better way to celebrate him than to watch a film that gleefully breaks a bunch of those rules.
Lucky for us, the Hays Code was abandoned, and no Republicans ever try to censor any one any more.

Dankzij die film die ik deelde stuitte ik op een film genre dat ik eigenlijk niet kende: Pre-Code Holywood.
De periode begint met de opkomst van de geluidsfilm en eindigt als in 1934 de Production Code Administration streng op de #HaysCode uit 1930 gaat toezien.
Ik ben benieuwd wat deze periode allemaal aan bijzonder materiaal heeft opgeleverd. In het Wikipedia artikel worden er in elk geval een hele hoop genoemd.

@zora @felyashono Yep, the ending was like "stay straight and keep this weird gay cheating thing in your closet with your wife staying silent about it to keep your marriage going". This isn't a very progressive message, nor is it new. It reminds me of the #HaysCode and #section28.
The episode sure has an interesting premise, but they didn't explore paths, they could have. -
