Some further info:
• Turning airplane mode on and off didn’t fix it
• A restart didn’t fix it
• Private relay was off alreadyBut…
…within 10 minutes of doing/checking the above, it now seems to not be happening! Gah!
Will keep testing if/when it recurs.

• iOS 26.6
• iPhone SE (2020)
• 4G and WiFi
• Safari and app web views
• No VPN or networking Config Profiles activeFirst time I follow a link to a page or enter an address in Safari, it sits for ages, then I get the attached error message. This happens for most sites.
If I hit refresh, it immediately works.
Content blockers turned off, no adblockers (currently).
If I tether to my phone the pages load immediately in Safari on my Mac.
Loading in a web view does not solve Safari’s issue (and vice versa).
Please only answer if:
• You are currently experiencing, or have recently experienced, this particular behaviour
• You have found a solution or have eliminated anything I don’t mention here explicitlyIf you’d prefer not to be blocked, please don’t respond if you’ve *not* experienced this problem, esp. with:
• Gen AI “solutions” if *you* haven’t tried them *on this problem* and they’ve solved it
• To say “Doesn’t happen for me” (even in jest [seriously – don’t do that!])
• To advise me to “Get a real phone” (even in jest [seriously – don’t do that!])
• To suggest “Have you tried…?” or “You should try…” (most esp. generic “reset network settings”-type responses)
