#TfL has responded to questions on London Service Permits (LSPs) for non-London bus routes operating in #Havering. TfL is in discussions with NIBSbuses over route 269, which crosses Greater London, and anticipates an LSP application. Two Davian Coaches services, route 4 and a Rainham Tesco–Veolia shuttle, currently operate without an LSP; TfL will investigate compliance. The Z2 service between Canning Town and Amazon Tilbury, previously lacking a renewed LSP, has now had its permit approved following an application in August 2025.

In 1978, #London #Transport (LT) trialled the Multi-ride ticket system in #Havering, aiming to achieve 100% one-man bus operations. The scheme, introduced in February, simplified the fare structure, offering discounts for regular travellers. London Country’s route 370, running between #Romford and Corbets Tey, also participated, as did Eastern National, which started later in May. Multi-ride stickers were carried by BT vehicles at Grays garage. The trial aimed to reduce boarding times and streamline fare collection, but although passenger uptake exceeded expectations (with around 75% using Multi-ride tickets), boarding times only dropped to 3 seconds, still far from the 2-second target for efficient one-man operation. Despite being popular with passengers, the scheme didn’t achieve the desired operational efficiency. As a result, LT reconsidered expanding the scheme fleetwide and reassessed future vehicle replacements.

It's 05.45 and my #LonelyWalk for #NationalWalkingMonth starts on the southwest corner of J28 of the M25. I'm walking the #Havering sections of the A12 and A127 today.

First is the reworking of the shared path through J28 with toucans just appearing.

Last year, I walked from the M25 to the centre of London for #NationalWalkingMonth.

This year it will be another long walk, but in #Havering, my own London Borough where I shall be circumnavigating the A12 and A127, two Transport for London managed roads which create huge problems of severance,

Havering the worst place to live in Greater London.

There was definitely a racism problem when we lived there. Parts of it was very conservative.

However, I wouldn't have thought this had been the worst place in Greater London, kind of surprised by that.

I've just learned that Havering Museum, Romford is holding an exhibition of the phenomenal art and craft of my late aunt Wendy Pidgeon until 25 April. Doesn't seem to be listed on the Havering Museum website - details came from Romford Embroiderers, which Wendy helped establish.

I'm reading the #statistics from the #Census2021 data in the UK, particularly for the area we lived in ie #Havering

We couldn't move back there. We experienced a LOT of #racism and #homophobia

As my partner is #Asian racist graffiti started to be sprayed over the bus stop we used to wait at. To make matters worse, the bus company refused to take it down.
