Yes, #goldMining is a toxic disaster for our #environment and accompanied by abuses such as #childLabour. You can learn more about it from fellow #Australia'n engineer, #HassMcCook's in his pre-covid presentation at the #HoneyBadger Conference in eastern #europe.
Do resist the urge to pour scorn on people that might still use #gold and precious metals as a #storeOfValue (that cannot be #inflation'd away to fund #wars).
Prior to 2009 there was no alternative.
