Hash Pride Hash in Amsterdam

No, not that kind of hash—although I’ve been offered to buy some in Amsterdam many times—but as usual for me, it was time for another beery run! For the third time in a row, I joined the Amsterdam H3 to run, drink, and watch the Pride Amsterdam Canal Parade.

Question: What is the best way to get involved with the local Hash House Harriers group here in the US midwest? They have a website where they post their trail events. Do I just show up with money and an ID? I am an older GenXer... do they embrace us older folks?

Things I noticed on my mid-day outing in #SanFrancisco:

The Krakenwagen art car ambulance was parked across the street from the DMV. It was spewing soap bubbles, though there didn't seem to be anyone inside and this didn't seem to have anything to do with anything else going on in the area at the time.

A ⨂ chalk mark by the #HashHouseHarriers, who play elaborate games of follow the leader involving many such sidewalk marks.

A big rubber duck mural by street artist fnnch, which had nothing to do with anything else going on in the area at the time, but which you may recall is visible from the little parking garage across the street.

Beer remains an integral part of a hash. However, the balance between running and drinking differs between chapters, with some groups placing more focus on socializing and others on running. "

"At a hash, one or more members ("hares") lay a trail, which is then followed by the remainder of the group (the "pack" or "hounds"). Paper, flour, or chalk are usually used to mark the trail. The trail periodically ends at a "check". The pack must find where it begins again; often, the trail includes false trails, short cuts, dead ends, "check backs," and splits. These features are designed to keep the pack together despite differences in fitness level or running or walking speed, as front-runners are forced to slow down to find the "true" trail, allowing stragglers to catch up. Sounds crazy enough for a few of my fellow runners in here. Sadly we don't really plan our days ahead so I've never made it to a run/hash. Since there are "clubs" all around the world.

I nearly think we got a virtual club here, so what should we call ourselves?
