  5. Just started working on an AIoT camera module dev kit around the RK3576.
Ubuntu 22.04, 10 MIPI image sensors, all driver-ready.

We’re trying to make it easier for people to build smartglasses, vision robots, etc

Curious what sensors other developers would want to see in something like this, our current shortlist is:
    IMX586, GC4023, IMX675, SC031IOT, AR1335, SC130HS, OV5640, OS04C10, OV9734, OX05B1S

  6. Hey #Fediverse the new startup I’m mentoring is looking for a hardware/software development person or team that can design a “battery management system” (BMS) for a new Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) that we’re prototyping and preparing to manufacture. If you or anyone in your network is interested, please respond or DM me for more information. #Seeking #jobs #SoftwareDevelopment #SoftwareEngineer #HardwareDev #SoftwareDev #JobPosting @johnvenr

  13. Just now, as @indrora is contemplating their lack of an ISA card to physically manipulate while designing one:
"Y'know, the downside of having gone mobile [using laptops] for so many years is, I don't have one to work on!"
My response: "I mean, why would you?"
They looked at me blankly for a moment and burst out laughing.

  18. I really don't know the first thing about hardware

yet, I understand that's relevant to user freedom as much (if not more than) as software

I don't understand why it's so hard to produce a open hardware mobile phone

I don't understand why doesn't RISC V take off immediately

Shouldn't we already have RISC V based PCs and SOCs ?

    uff

  21. Yay, delivery of my PCBs for current project.

Spent a bit of time debugging a bit of wonky behaviour, which seems to be related to difficulty cleaning under a surface-mount 7seg display.

Might explore a cutout in next pass of the board to get solvent through better. Will also move around some vias to ensure they're not holding volatiles close to the pads.

That's what one's first board fab is for I guess, finding the little nuances for improvements.
