Mobilisierende Leidenschaften

Als ich noch jung war, waren diese Leidenschaften links. In meiner Abiturklasse wählte bei der Kommunalwahl 1976 in Gladbeck ein Drittel – bekennend! – DKP. Deren Verbundenheit mit der DDR war sehr wohl bekannt, und wurde von dieser starken Minderheit für die Entwicklung der Stadt nicht als Nachteil angesehen. Die regierende SPD war allzu gut bekannt. Die DKP-Hochburg Bottrop sollte mit Gladbeck und dem Bauern- und Speckgürtel-Vorort Kirchhellen fusioniert werden, um sie rechnerisch aus dem Stadtrat herauszuhalten; die 5%-Hürde galt damals noch bei der Kommunalwahl. Dieses durchsichtige Manöver bescherte der DKP eine Gegenmobilisierung in Gladbeck. Der NRW-Verfassungsgerichtshof kassierte die Städtefusion (“Glabotki”) wieder. Und die DKP hatte sich in beiden Städten festgesetzt.

Ein ehemaliger Gladbecker DKP-Ratsherr landete auf wenig rätselhafte Weise später bei der AfD, die jetzt die Republik in Angst und Schrecken versetzt. Dort soll er 2023 auch schon wieder ausgetreten sein. Schade eigentlich. Der wäre der AfD weiter zu gönnen. Aber ich will nicht abschweifen.

Die mobilisierenden Leidenschaften sind heute ganz offensichtlich rechts. Und Robert Misik arbeitete sich gestern in der taz nicht ganz abwegig an ihnen ab.

Noch wichtiger als die verzweifelten Versuche, die deutsche Rechte zu erklären, ist die Frage, wie mobilsierende Leidenschaften auf der pessismismuskranken Linken reanimiert werden können. Daran arbeitet einer aus der übersichtlichen Zahl der Guten bei der taz, Christian Jakob, aus dessen Buch die Blätter einen Auszug online gestellt haben:

“Gegen das Untergangsdenken – Fünf Jahre Fridays for Future und die Chancen der Klimabewegung”

Es ist die Wirkung globaler Medienmacht, die linke Potenziale in die Depression treibt und die Rechten, die es 1976 auch alle schon gab, die sich aber öffentlich fast nichts getraut haben, zu ermutigen. Mit der Faktenlage hat das nichts zu tun.

Das hat schon vor Jahren der Schwede Hans Rosling belegt. Und mir wurde es dieser Tage klar, als ich dieses schmale Bändchen über den Feudalverbrecher “Karl den Grossen” las, nach dem noch heute in Aachen rechte Preisverleihungen benannt sind, und der ein Imperium von Barcelona bis Magdeburg drangsalierte.

Die Herrschaftsmethode dieses Herrn war nämlich der Krieg, also Massenmord. Es gab keine steuerfinanzierten Staatsstrukturen. Sondern die Herrschaft finanzierte sich aus Mord und Plünderei. Mann nannte es Mittelalter. Der Kerl regierte von 768-814 n.Chr.. Und die Jahre, in denen mal kein Krieg war, waren Ausdruck tiefer “Krisen” seiner Herrschaft.

Dass er in unserer Gegenwart so verehrt wird, wie es nicht nur in Aachen geschieht, wo er im Winter zu hausen pflegte, ist über diese Gegenwart aussagekräftiger als über die damalige menschenunwürdige Wirklichkeit. Denn es geht darum, historischen Fortschritt zu leugnen. Er könnte die “Falschen” ermuntern. Nämlich uns.

With the news from #Ukraine, #Israel and other conflicts I sometimes doubt it, but I believe* that when we take a birds-eye-view of decades and taking the whole world into consideration, not just specific hotspots, it's still true. And I still have hope for the future of humanity. Which is what we need to inspire us to *act* to ensure that the world will continue to get a better place, instead of saying that the world is burning and giving up.

@nrchtct i am a huge fan of #HansRosling, his optimism, physical presence and lifetime achievement in #sciencecommunication. And yet, I've always had the feeling that his thesis can't be universal and that we're at a turning point. Paulsen performed that convincingly, even if he does it too much at the expense of Hans's legacy. A bit too complacent for my liking…

I can’t remember the name of a podcast I was listening to recently, delivered by (I think) #HansRosling (the famous scandi #stats guy who died a few years ago?) about our levels of fear and anxiety now about the world… with the idea that things aren’t worse now than they used to be. Now I can’t remember what it was called! 😂😂 And can’t find it either. And I’m now ironically - very anxious! 😂😂😂😂

I can’t remember the name of a podcast I was listening to recently, delivered by (I think) #HansRosling (the famous scandi #stats guy who died a few years ago?) about our levels of fear and anxiety now about the world… with the idea that things aren’t worse now than they used to be. Now I can’t remember what it was called! 😂😂 And can’t find it either. And I’m now ironically - very anxious! 😂😂😂😂
