@prism @jalefkowit that depends on the amount of customers. From their end, this could be a well thought business decision. An idiotic, dumb one. But well thought.

@kleisli @randahl
I've been saying this for quite some time now: I fear we have entered Reverse Hanlon territory a few years ago. Never attribute something (misconduct, wrongdoing) to stupidity if it can be appropriately explained by malice, corruption or lousiness.

#chatcontrol is erdoor gerommeld, moedwillig.

#HanlonsRazor states:
"Never attribute to #malice that which is adequately explained by #stupidity"
I'd like to announce that Hanlon's Razor has been absolutely destroyed, dead, and buried, by Donald #Trump
Asked about why he didn't tell allies about the #IranWar, with #Japan's PM #SanaeTakaichi beside him, Trump said:
"Who knows better about surprise than Japan? OK, why didn’t you tell me about #PearlHarbor? You believe in surprise, I think, much more than us"
🤦🤦🤦

#Trump's "#BoardOfPeace" is as much a joke as his grasp on the #NobelPeacePrize. Integrity? Commitment? Sincerity? Coherency? Not from this #WhiteHouse
Announced: pariah state #Belarus would be on the council
What?
Currying #Putin's favor? Some nexus of malice and corruption?
No. #HanlonsRazor holds in this instance, it's just incompetency:
"White House confuses #Belgium with 'Belarus'"
Then Belgium promptly disavowed the project
So fucking stupid

Before assuming malice online, pause 🤔💭 Maybe it’s just a mistake, a bad day, or a misunderstanding. That’s Hanlon’s Razor: “Never attribute to malice what can be explained by ignorance.” 🌍💌 Keep it in mind before you lose faith in humanity 💚🙏✨ #HanlonsRazor #Empathy #DigitalWisdom #StayKind

@SheDrivesMobility

A quotation from Robert J. Hanlon
Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.

@jalefkowit At what point do we stop assuming it's incompetence, again?

Never attribute to malice what can be adequately explained by stupidity.
-- Hanlon's Razor -
Ice, Ice baby. They could see this on satellite if they looked.
It is all bullshit agitprop to distract.
-
@jwz Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.

@fff
"Geh nicht von Böswilligkeit aus, wenn Dummheit genügt."
#HanlonsRazor wird stumpf.Wie denkunwillig, die Realität ignorierend und reaktant kann man den noch sein, um diese Redewendung noch gelten zu lassen?

@BlumeEvolution
#HanlonsRazor wirkt irgendwie stumpf, wenn Leute Sätze sagen wie: Je schlechter es D geht, desto besser für uns.Ich fürchte sie brauchen richtig große Krisenstimmung, am besten Angst vor einer Weltwirtschaftskrise und dem 3.Weltkrieg in einem.
@cR0w I agree the post is far from optimal, but try to look at it this way: in a system as big as CF's you rarely see individual request data, but you can correlate HIBP alerts with status codes and write a blog post with big %s about password stuffing. You don't write about anonymization because you never saw anything that'd need anonymizing so there's nothing you did that's worth writing about. Again, I agree this should've been flagged by PR, but we've seen bigger blunders from that department...
#HanlonsRazor -
Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.
Exept for entities wielding great power for which the opposite is the case.
-
@andreagrandi People are also free to be wrong or misunderstand the issue.
#HanlonsRazor etc...
-
@IsabVann2 never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.

@fkamiah17 I think that is exactly how I would describe it. If it were deliberate deception, then why would they have taken the graphic down?
Never underestimate the capacity of human beings to cock up even the simplest of tasks.

It is an interesting battle between Occam and Hanlon, but I will side with Occam because the history indicates that fascists hide behind Hanlon.

Hanlon-Clarke's 3rd Razor:
Any sufficiently advanced malice is indistinguishable from stupidity.
Corollary:
Any sufficiently advanced stupidity is indistinguishable from malice.
-
…wow, this, too:
“a clumsier but more accurate corollary…:
"‘Never attribute to malice or stupidity that which can be explained by moderately rational individuals following incentives in a complex system.’”
