Final wood box with removable bottom drawer. Mistakes were made, but made it work. I planned to dovetail the sides, but grain directions were wrong. So I went with mortise/tenons, but they were shallow I worried about strength. So I did something I rarely do: use hardware. I reinforced the corners with screws. Not my best work, but it will do the job! I’m happy with the curved corners, mostly (made with bow saw and my prized Auriou rasps from France). #woodworking #handtoolsonly

I can't believe I took this long to build a moxon vice. It works really well, even with smaller pieces and they lift the pieces up, for a better posture. If you haven't built one yet, you should really consider it.

Why #handtoolsonly woodworking? I've thought over it for a couple of years now.
It's not speed, not efficiency at the time when a gvt can change the world overnight firing #executiveorders, whether legal or not.
It may be, as Rex Krueger said, history of the process of making, or little stories thereof regarding "obstacles."
Stories of tools used, maintained or found and restored, how a material came to be obtained, techneques learned and bettered... a bit of spice to the "superlying" world.

Two pinnacles of two projects. First tries. #Tenons properly seated on both projects.
As an enthuasist, feeling a humble degree of fulfillment and delight to see these long-standing projects finally coming together.

I'm in no way trained in #JapaneseWoodworking, I'm only practicing what I think is at the edge of it.
It's #mukoomachi #nomi #chisel that's holed out a #hozo-ana #mortise.
No power tools, no harsh sounds. Just enjoying the work of the hands. #handtoolsonly

Been busy harvesting, drying, and curing Mother Nature, but did a bit of carving on the side. Made this platter from spalted tan oak.
