If you like your sewing tutorials medieval and reminiscent of Bergman films, try Elin's and remember that old Robert Burns / Fairport Convention poem Tam Lin.
O I forbid ye, maidens a',
That wear gowd on your hair,
To come, and gae by Carterhaugh,
For young Tom-lin is there.There's nane that gaes by Carterhaugh
But they leave him a wad;
Either their rings, or green mantles,
Or else their maidenhead.Janet has kilted her green kirtle,
A little aboon her knee;
And she has broded her yellow hair
A little aboon her bree;
And she's awa to Carterhaugh
As fast as she can hie.Sewing a 17th Century Kirtle

I shortened the old lightweight cropped pants in order to add a phone pocket. 👌✨📱🩳 Now these shorts are more practical.

Pink skeleton bat, mostly hand-sewn for my (adult) niece. Phases of creation were roughly “Ooh this is a great idea!”, “Whose idea was this?”, “It’ll all be worth it in the end”, “[censored]”, “Why do I keep trusting patterns off the internet”, and finally “let’s never speak of this again”. I kind of wish she was still four years old so she won’t notice how wonky it is. But hey, it’s the thought that counts!

Today it was too hot to do, well, anything, really, so we decided to take a day off and rest.
Which means that I've spent the whole day #handsewing.
Which, one could assume, means that I've finished the vampire shirt? of course not, I still have to attach two pairs of finishing patches to the sleeve slits, of course.
But I've worked quite a bit on a new-ish project, so that's good, right?
And to be fair, I had cut the fabric for that project close to two years ago, so it didn't completely count as a *new* project either.
(It's a towel hair wrap, and a second one in a lighter fabric to use as general head wear)

#MilpitasCA - #MendWithFriends
Saturday, June 13, 2026
11:00AM – 12:30PM
Milpitas Library"Do you have...
...a stuffed animal with the stuffing leaking out?
...a shirt with a missing button?
...a hole you want to patch?
...a stain you want to cover up?
Bring it to the Mend with Friends mending club and let’s fix it together! If you are curious about sewing, we can also introduce beginners to some basic #HandSewing stitches.
No registration is required; bring your own items to mend, project to work on, or practice basic stitches with our fabric scraps! Limited mending supplies for hand sewing and casual instruction are available, but bringing your own favorite tools, extra buttons, fabric scraps, or experience to share is always appreciated.
Children are welcome to accompany their caregiver and learn alongside them.
We meet every month on the second Saturday!"

Hey, pssst! Sewing nerds. Yes you, sewing a nice #EPP project. 🧵
Could be that I'm late to the party, but do you know these document folders? With lots of nice, expanding divisions to stow away thick bundles of papers? Just perfect to store your sewn together segments/blocks.
Sorry, just had to share my discovery. 😅 -

My work for the next days: Sewing these flowers and butterflies (there ist batting underneath each, glued with textile glue) with ladder stitch all around the edges on the bought pillow case (80 x 80 cm). After this it is quilting time. 🧵
(Not everything is my colour palette/pattern, but it's especially requested by my kid. I sew a relatively simple quilt blanket out of big blocks in rainbow colours last year for my child and will also appliqué butterflies and my beloved rainbow-flowers on this.)#handsewing #nähen #sewing #handnähen #slowStitching #quilt #quilting #slowCrafting #Handarbeit #NähenVonHand #SewingForKids #Handarbeiten #quilten #nähenFürKinder #EPP #Hexies #Hexagon #EnglishPaperPiecing
