  1. The #Handmaid’s Tale has become more and more plausible

Margaret #Atwood has said the plot of her book The Handmaid’s Tale, which tells a story of an #authoritarian #regime under which women are forced to reproduce, has become “more and more plausible” in recent years.

Speaking on BBC Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs, Atwood said she believed the plot was “bonkers” when she first developed the concept for the novel because the #US was the “ #democratic ideal ” at the time.

  6. Since #Project #2025 went public, Margaret #Atwood s #Handmaid's Tale is definitely the new #1984.

Not that #BigBrother went anywhere, they just discovered that control of #uterus complements control of media nicely.

Now who would have thought that the #Nazis would do well on #TikTok idk.

  7. I think we need an agony aunt column for readers.

I was talking to a friend about Margaret Atwood's The Handmaid's Tale when I realised I couldn't recall fairly large chunks of it - so here's my question to any future literary agony aunt:

'Should I reread Atwood's book - and could I even stand doing so, while so many politicians (& media & voters) seem to see the book not as a work of dystopian fiction but a travel guide?'

  8. Last evening, like every Sunday, I went to #craftoola to do some #crafts. I used that time to make a LED embedded banner for today's protest in Jerusalem.
A way more impressive #protest #art project took place in the same studio during that evening [and night]: a group of ladies created dozens of costumes from "The #Handmaid's Tale" TV series. This was impressive and made front news in Israel and abroad (e.g. The Washington Post archive.is/ICqBD ).
I'm proud to share a studio with them.
