And it's done, washed and dried. Grew a bit (I hung it up to dry), it's no more the length of XS, but it would grow to that length anyway (mostly alpaca and cotton), so that's okay, better knowing now what it would turn into anyway.
The only unknown is how the yarn will stand up to wear and tear. The cast on in the second picture looks already a bit fuzzy.
Shoulder seams are closed with my favorite bind off for connecting live sts.

Finished. Actually the next pair is also finished but I didn't get to take pictures before today. Pictures for the other ones will come soon.
They are for my daughter and she loves them. The brioche stripes add some really nice squishyness - I think I really should use that stitch more often, especially for socks.

Knitting all finished - now off to washing and "blocking" (laying it out all flat and pulling into shape).
The leftover yarn is about 15 g / 50 m, so yeah, would definitely not been enough, but the other yarn blends in really well.
It's short, just waist length, but I think for a slipover that's ok.
From all the pictures so far the one of the finished garment is probably most true to color.

Second pair for 2026.
Picture and lighting aren't great, but they are leaving my house tomorrow so there won't be another chance to make a better one.
Colorful socks for a dear friend, smaller than I'm used to (her feet are about 4 sizes smaller than mine). I hope I got the sizing right. 🤔
Leg is done in sections of fisherman's rib and twisted rib, so that part is really squishy.

More pictures - I'm just so proud of this cardigan. The fit is absolutely perfect and is an ideal second layer inside
A few notes on what I did to make it fit my body: I added about 10 cm additional width around the front. Partly by an extra increase round after the yoke was finished, partly by adding some bust increases at the armhole after parting sleeves and body. This gave me the necessary width, where it was necessary

Done, finished, ready to wear.
I reworked the zipper. This time I matched up the crucial points and then worked in several steps. I think it worked out pretty well. There are two places, where it's a bit wavy but I think that's because the zipper is probably a bit too heavy for the fabric. Knowing me I will rarely close it and when it's open this isn't noticeable.
It's lightweight (about 360 g) and warm, perfect for this weather

That's it!
I love, how it came out, it fits really well (need to find a time slot with good light and my partner available to take good pictures when wearing it).
It's about 325 g or about 1.250 m with a bust width of 110 cm. It's probably possible to make it work only 4 colors, making the uni colored blocks a bit wider, especially the top one (from that color was left the most).

Socks - again.
But they are a bit special in that it's a yarn that has been sitting in my stash for maybe 20 years. According to the manufacturer this colorway was produced around 2001 ...
It was still in pretty good condition so I'm looking forward to wearing them for a long time (Opal is rather sturdy yarn).
Pattern is a simple combo of brioche st and purl background over a little more than half of the front st.

Did I ever post a "finished" picture of this cardigan?
It's the same yarn I asked about here https://troet.cafe/@FanCityKnits/115615346234643750
Technically it's not finished in this picture, but that's the best picture I'll get. Ends are sewn in and buttons added and it's a perfect fit. Probably best fit I've ever reached for my partner after knitting for him for close to 30 years 😆 It will be my prototype from now on. (He gets a cardi every 2 years or so)

More socks - but I think I'm getting near the end of the streak ...
This yarn is 100% Southdown, an extremely short stapled fiber, very "spongy", interesting to knit with. But it's properties make it allegedly very suitable for socks. We will see, how they hold up.
The pattern I used is called "Burning Love / Brennende Liab" with my standard heel and toe.

More socks - #sockknitting is still going strong over here.
With this pair I'm really curious, how well they stand up to wear and wash as they are 100% Peruvian highland wool. It was advertised as sock yarn and the vendor told me that she uses it herself with no problems so I decided to give it a try.
The pattern is a simple texture: k3, p1 for 3 rounds, p all for one round. Heel and toe are my standard versions.

#Socktober socks pair 3 finished just in time.
The yarn looks and feels very nice, I really do hope it holds up to wear and washing on a regular basis.
Pattern is "Wood Nymph Socks", a free pattern on Ravelry
https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/wood-nymph
I switched out heel and toe for my preferred variants and I made the stitch pattern one stitch wider so the purl stitch from the cuff did line up with the pattern.

#Socktober part two.
A pretty simple stitch pattern, a really nice yarn (75% merino, 25% nylon), that feels rather substantial and is pretty different from the usual sock yarns, very matte.
I'm curious, how well it will stand up to use and washing.

I still owe the finished picture if my #Socktober socks - 2 pairs are done and a third already cast on
The first finished pair
A handdyed blend of 75% wool, 25% nylon, but the wool is #BFL or Bluefaced Leicester. I like that breed for spinning, as it's nearly as soft as merino, but with a longer staple and because of that it has a bit more luster and is a bit sturdier. In theory. But you don't find much yarn made from it

I don't even remember when I started this process anymore, but one side of my embroidered dress is done. Turns out black on black is a real strain on the eyes. 🙈
I'm not sure I made the best choice with this stitch, either. I might have to redo it at some point.

It's time to bring out fingerless mitts. I'm usually not cold. Only my fingers when I'm working at the computer have a tendency to need a bit of extra warmth.
These mitts are probably the finest thing I've ever knit - 2.0 mm needles and a gauge of 40 sets / 10 cm in stockinette. The yarn is a merino silk blend that runs 1.340 m / 100 g

Halfway there - sock 1 finished, the second one is cast on, but only a few rounds long.
There's several hours of car ride ahead today, should get me through most of the leg.

I've been working on a dress! It's ready enough that I just need to add buttons + buttonholes, so it should only take me about 6 business months.

Wearing all a lot of handmade today! 😌 Too bad the bag doesn't really fit everything else. 😅
I'm happy the vest works with this blouse, it's what I had in mind when making it!
Vest, trousers, scarf & bag handmade, rest second hand.

I'm wearing my knit vest out for the first time today! 🥳
It'll be too hot by afternoon to have it on all day, but I can at least enjoy the morning. 😎
Not a fan of how the shoulders look, I think the blocking caused them to stick out like that. :(

Gradient Cardigan - seems like I forgot to post the final pictures. So here they are - this is my favorite garment at the moment, I love the flowy, extravagant look so much.
I wore it to the office the first time the day after Ozzy Osbourne died. One colleague said I should make another one with a black to grey gradient and it would be a Ozzy-Memorial-Coat.
She might be on to something .. (not going to happen though).
