Meet Benthic Garden. 🌊 I didn’t know what the glaze would do, it decided to become an ecosystem. Took her outside, zoomed in, and she was keeping secrets. A garden at the bottom of the sea. Debut this July.

The watercolor cakes came in something plastic but I took them out because one didn’t fit into the ceramic square and I had a small nervous breakdown :meowybara: so I cut away the plastic with a knife :bunhdknife:

Hehe I did it, it spiiiiins! Finally made my very own whirly pottery video inspired by Beelur’s (@beelur on Tumblr) adorable spinning air dry clay sculptures.
Except I don’t have a background yet, baby steps.

I had to and I don’t regret it but I kinda dislike it because, of course, it looks stupid in this stage but maybe it’ll turn out marvelous lol.
And there you go kids, art and stuff sometimes looks stupid in the making before you see the perfect, marvelous, finished product :bunhdcry:
I hate it at this point, lol. Like I hate Marnie for not letting me in her bedroom to get Lewis’s “shorts” and return it to him, discreetly.

Another piece built today!
For this one I planned some underglaze, I’ll see how I feel tomorrow. That tray was really annoying to make believe it or not, I need some rest.

I am currently hand building some objects at home and this is the biggest one I’ve made so far (the smallest was a needle box and I accidentally broke it when it was bone dry, ofc).
I intended a large ramen bowl but as per usual it took a life of its own in the process. I was happy to successfully combine coils and a slab in this one. Now I have to decide if I want handles or not. Also that rim…

I am still experimenting with glass but I’m not putting it on everything anymore :artsits:
The palette is probably a bit too irregular haha and it sustained quite a bit of damage while I was sanding it. I stopped sanding objects too much and instead I use a scalpel to gently scrape the surfaces.

I tried making kurinuki pots and they were pretty good but glazing day came around and I glazed them with everything else without checking if kurinuki gets glazed because I feel like it shouldn’t haha
Anyways, I really like them even though there is too much oxide because patience isn’t my forte. It wasn’t dry enough so i couldn’t wipe it off well enough.

More ceramics. These are pinch pots, very small, a bit like shot glasses and they are like this because this is the best I can do for now. I am yet to figure out what to use them for. For now they are stored safely in a box because of Pocket the kitten.
Once again white clay, transparent glaze and the beloved oxide pencil.

I have to say that I’m pretty proud of my stuff from this batch because nothing broke or exploded in the kiln. Like this object here was to test if I can make something hollow.
I have to add that in terms of oxides and glazes this batch is pretty uninteresting (I didn’t even use any underglazes yet!) — white and transparent glaze on white clay haha!
But it’s a journey and if I persist I’m sure I’ll get better, if I don’t get bored first :meowybara: -
Anothee palette that survived with a somewhat changed appearance. It had parts break off during sanding - originally it had a brush holder like the one I posted earlier today but I didn’t attach it well enough so it broke. Some of you may recognize the fish with legs from a medieval manuscript. I realized that oxide pencil and medieval marginalia go very well together.
