Many #hams post photos of themselves at a unique location, often with important plaques on structures, such as a summit or park marker.
Am I the only one trying to read the text on the plaque only to discover the photo is reversed left-right and the poster hasn't bothered to fix it?

I was able to reconnect with #hams from #maryland and people I met at #hamsci, #cedar, #hamvention and #gnuradio conferences. Some folx I haven't seen since the #pandemic! It was good to be out and about. Everyone was cool but no one who was still working wanted their photos shared on #socialmedia because they were concerned about security issues and fear of a #facist planet. This is what it has come down to. SMH 4/4

Lot's of #hams in the group are from the #DMV so they are former or current #government & #military #contractors. Needless to say I overheard alot of discontent about their jobs or former jobs--all in low voices proceeded by cut-eye glances over shoulders.

As an added bonus, I've included a huge archive link for thousands upon thousands of manuals for just about any electronic device you can think of, from the Manuals Plus Collection that was rescued when that company went out of business a couple of years back.

This headline made me do a double-take, until I realised it was #RoadSafety Great Britain rather than #RSGB (#radio society of Great #Britain) for #RadioAmateurs - TBH if any #hams *are* pulled up for #DUI (unless they are prog-rock loving #hippies who still indulge now and then , which isn't that uncommon round here, quite a few #seniors been nicked recently) its more likely to be happen due to #drugs they got prescribed legally for age-related health conditions (usually #benzodiazepines and #opiates) than #partydrugs (beware - even a legal prescription is *not* a "get out of jail free" card, and an OM who ends up mounting the kerb trying to adjust his VFO whilst driving might well be swabbed / blood tested)

I asked #craiyon to produce an image with #Captain #BenjaminSisko as a #hamradio operator on the #holodeck for my #GRcon keynote and it just couldn't do it! I tried at least a dozen times and I even threw the reference image below at it but it still consistently produced images of #whitemen as #hams or #startrek captains. If #AI is the future, it sure looks like the past. #inclusion #whitesupremacy #dei #afrofuture #BlackMastodon

I feel like throwing an eraser at these sleeping #influencers like one of my professors did at #HowardU BITD. Hello? Have you been paying attention? The current #fascist #lawless regime is, whelp, #lawless. They are busy #deporting #legalimmigrants & threatening to #deport #citizens. They have illegally fired #civilservants. Why would they, on god's green earth, be constrained by #international #treaties and #IARU agreements or listen to suggestions from #hams?
