  10. Six images of the Sun in H-Alpha.
During that session, the solar limb didn’t show any relevant prominences, so all the data was focused on the active regions.

  15. The Sun in H-Alpha light (656.23 nm), 22 august 2024. Prominences.

A couple of images I did manage to save from a session during a quite bad morning for imaging the Sun, due the poor seeing and the sky transparency. I did like the results, though.

  17. Jetzt noch mal die Sonne mit Smartphonehalter am Coronado PST mit X-Flare und fetter Protuberanz. Zur Skala: Sonnendurchmesser = 109 Erddurchmesser.

  18. I just had wanted to check the equipment for tomorrow's solar eclipse, but was able to observe in H-alpha how the Sun spit out a lot of matter. There was an X flare with a coronal mass ejection. It went sideways and not in the direction of Earth.

Potato quality image with my smartphone through the PST. The red spot is the ejected gas, which has already traveled several 100,000 km away from the Sun (red disk).

  20. Two more images from the recording session on 30 august.
Each image is a mosaic composed by two panels.
The Ha filter was set up to be off-band around the 656.28 nm wavelength, on the +5 and -5 Å wings allowed by the Combo Quark. In addition, the gain was modified to according to the wavelength shift.

  21. The Sun in H-Alpha light, 30 august 2024.

On that day, the main feature was a series of some prominences, mostly on the western solar limb where, looking at the biggest ones, pareidolia could show a gazelle, a tree and a crab.
AR 3807 was playing with its plasma tentacles.
On the south eastern limb, a small arc shaped prominence, while the active region AR 3806 and the nearby filaments were moving towards the center of the solar disc.

  22. A view of some nice features on the solar chromosphere. The last days of august 2024 were quite cloudy and the seeing was probably not the best. The results are not amazing, but still nice.

  25. Had one hour of clear sky in the morning here in Heidelberg and decided to use it wisely - here is an image of the sun in the very specific H-Alpha wavelength.

Did the classic mistake and buy new gear, had to wait weeks for the sky to clear...
