I’ve had a few difficult weeks recently dealing with some health issues (nothing serious but painful), but a while ago I decided to upgrade my desoldering tools with a very nice pair of #Hakko FX8804 heated tweezers. I received them today and they’re a thing of beauty 😍 #electronics #smd #diy #repair

For the first time ever today I have updated a firmware on my soldering iron 🤣. Times we live in. Wow.

P.S.: thankfully electricity didn't black out during the update 🤷‍♂️.

約８年間、このはんだゴテ1本で様々な設備の補修や制御装置の製作に使用した。
・プレス機の電線が断線したときには現場に駆けつけてこれを使って修理した。
・制御装置を組み立てる時にも使った。
・プリント基板に電子部品をはんだ付けする時にも使った。
コテ先（Iron tip）は三種類購入して作業内容によって使い分けていた。

8年間一度もコテのヒーターが故障することは無かった。さすがHakko製である。
ただ、電源コードはオリジナルは硬くて取り回しが悪いので柔らかな電線に交換した。

これからは自宅のWork Benchで趣味の電子回路を組立てに使いづけるつもりだ。

電子回路のはんだ付はHakko FX-600を長年使っているが、きょう偶然に知ったことがあった。それは温度設定ダイヤルのこと（写真）。

この温度設定ダイヤルは、270, 320, 370, ... （℃）と表示されていて、それぞれの位置でカチッ・カチッと止まる仕様になっている。共晶はんだを使っているので適温は340-350なのに370℃というのが凄く不満だった。そこで、私はダイヤルを370（℃）に合わせた状態で熱電対温度計で340℃になるようにキャリブレーションしていた。

それで、きょう初めて知ったこととは、
この温度設定ダイヤルは、カチッと止まる所以外の例えば320と370の中間でも設定できるこということ。これは、ある方のホームページを読んでいて初めて知った。改めて説明書を読むとちゃんと書いてあった。

普段は320と370の中間に設定しておいて、熱容量が必要なはんだ付け時は370に変更し、加熱を押さえたい時は320に変更するという使い方がこのはんだごてを開発した人の意図なのだろう。

Since it’s #blackouts in #Ukraine again - time to fix a small #UPS that I bought as broken months ago.

Originally it had a cheapest #BMS that got HOT and same level batteries - 8/12 were dead when I got it.

I replaced batteries with proper 3000+ mAh ones wired in 3S4P and a 40A BMS - now it stays stone cold and should power my router for 10-12 hours.

Spot welded it today during blackout and soldered with my #Hakko powered by #Bluetti 😆.

So after cracking it open with an #iFixit pick and Jimmy all it took was to quickly reflow every component on the BMS board with good amount of flux, clean thoroughly with isopropyl and check if it works.

At first I actually sodered a smaller battery instead of the original one for convenience of the testing process.
