  1. 📚 livre TAZ ZONE AUTONOME TEMPORAIRE Hakim Bey 11€ [anarchie - alternative]
    Dispo ici: la-petroleuse.com/fr/livres-an

  2. Aimless wandering creates space just as pilgrimage creates place. Psychogeography traces the bones of Gog & Magog in landscape’s recumbent limbs or lineaments of carefree vagabonds against a background of industrial waste setting out to practice survival of the happiest in defiance of all bourgeois necrology but at an oblique angle to anything that can be pinned down by later historians looking with perfect hindsight for signs of inevitable crash & burn. You had to be there. And still do.

  3. "The only force significant enough to facilitate our act of creation seems to be desire, or as Charles Fourier called it, 'Passion'. Just as Chaos and Eros (along with Earth and Old Night) are Hesiod’s first deities, so too no human endeavor occurs outside their cosmogeneous circle of attraction."

  4. "Out of nothing we will make something: the Uprising, the revolt against everything which proclaims: 'The Nature of Things is such-&-such.' We disagree, we are unnatural, we are less than nothing in the eyes of the Law—Divine Law, Natural Law, or Social Law—take your pick. Out of nothing we will imagine our values, and by this act of invention we shall live."

  5. ...Here's a fun fact about Steve: When Autonomedia published Hakim Bey's TAZ (The Temporary Autonomous Zone), Steve typed the entire book in *by hand* from Hakim's paper copy, on an old computer at the Libertarian Book Club's office. (Hakim was proudly computer-illiterate.) #TAZ #HakimBey

  6. "Is it possible now to BE SERIOUS BUT NOT SOBER?"

"... The New Sobriety is of course simply the flipside of the New Frivolity. Chic neo-puritanism carries the taint of Reaction, in just the same way that postmodernist philosophical irony & despair lead to Reaction. The Purge Society is the same as the Binge Society..."

  7. "We do not require 'Revolutionary' institutions. 'After the Revolution' we would still continue to drift, to evade the instant sclerosis of a politics of revenge, and instead seek out the excessive, the strange—which for us has became the sole possible norm. If we join or support certain 'revolutionary' movements now, we’d certainly be the first to 'betray' them if they 'came to power'. Power, after all, is for us—not some fucking vanguard party."

  8. So, once in a while, my mother sends us packages with a bunch of goodies. This time, mostly Christmas presents. However, the last time I was in France, I selected a bunch of my old books and asked her to include a few whenever she could. She usually picks them at random from the pile.

This time, can we say that shit got real?

  9. "... we will only abandon our territories that have been liberated from the yoke of the market in order to create others."

    Raoul Vaneigem

This quote reminds me very much of Hakim Bey's writing about the "Temporary Autonomous Zone":

Now that I think about it, the opening section about "pirate utopias" reminds me very much of what some of us have been trying to do with the verse.

«La TAZ és com una revolta que no s’enganxa amb l’Estat, una operació guerrillera que allibera una àrea -de terra, de temps, d’imaginació- i aleshores s’autodissol per reconstruir-se a qualsevol altre lloc o temps, abans que l’Estat la pugui aixafar.»

One of Peter Lamborn Wilson’s fascinations while he was staying here at Dreamtime Village was collecting insulators. These are a few from his collection.

  13. Note #14 : TAZ, Hakim Bey, Édition de l'éclat

"La TAZ est fondamentalement une notion joyeuse. Elle existe dans les moments d’insurrection, et disparaît avec l’instauration d’un régime révolutionnaire car elle ne vit que dans l’instable."

  14. @clacke you can leave *a* state. But only if you get permission from another state to enter their territory. That's not voluntary association, even in a narrow technical sense. You don't have any choice about whether to be governed by a state or not (unless you're a long way out to sea I guess), although there are #PirateUtopias (to quote #HakimBey) where the ability of the state to enforce its governance is much lower than the average (see #DavidGraeber's ethnographies of Madagascar).
