House and Senate Democratic leadership, when asked about the impeachment proceedings they had started shortly before the climbdown, said that they "... were glad this existential crisis has at least been paused, potentially for as long as two weeks" and that they were glad for the opportunity to get back to doing nothing about the administration's abuses.
