I realize Musical Theater majors typically have dance class at least once a day, and this type of effective self-awareness and instrumentality of the body is sort of table stakes for Broadway performers nowadays, but seriously to see it at the level attained in that show, by an entire cast at once, while at same time all the music and the story are devastating and beautiful, is a rare gift in the world. #Hadestown

one of the things I liked best about seeing #Hadestown even on film is just the thing of watching a stage full of people who are clearly trained to be aware of their bodies and use them well, and everyone in the whole ensemble is excellent at it. Before you even get into the choreography and dancing, just the way everyone carries themselves is beautiful and fully alive at all times, and they also all seem aware of and in tune with each other in a special way. I watched Hades Town yesterday and I have to say it is the most epic story of ADHD hyper focus gone wrong. Dude is so focused on writing his song to save the world that he doesn't hear his girlfriend call for help when she is in mortal danger. Then he has to walk all the way to hell to get her back. Then he can't focus on the simple instructions to not look back, and she gets sent back to hell.

Just saw one of the silliest Coca-Cola ads I've ever seen while waiting for the Hadestown proshoot to start. Imagine a gospel choir singing with glass bottles of Coca-Cola and not a single person in the choir has taken a sip of their Coke because carbonated beverages are terrible for your vocal cords. That was certainly a choice 😂

Just watched a 2025 London performance of #HadesTown at my local #AMC which is a modern re-telling of the myth of Orpheus & Eurydice.
I thought the plot was odd but I like musicals & I liked this one too. It's a Fathom release & will only be on screen for a few more days.
So, if you want to see it, check the theaters near you to see if/when it is being shown.
