Realised that the gates counting down toward meeting Chronos have IIII instead of IV - which is sometimes used in clock faces as alternative for IV.

And Chronos is ofc the Titan* of Time.

Also, the game remarks several times that Chronos is obsessed with money (not part of greek mythology). The gag is perhaps that "time is money".

Aloin pelaamaan Hades 2:sta sen oltua asennettuna liki vuoden. Että on kiva peli! Ongelmani oli opetusmetodina ollut "heitto altaan syväänpäätyyn". Talviaikana ei ollut kaistaa lähteä opetella logiikkaa (vaikka Hades 1:stä olinkin hakannut pidemmän aikaa).

Toki altaan syväpääty toimii pelissä jossa päähenkilö on kuolematon, ja peli "muistaa" ainoastaan hyviä asioita. Kun virheillä ei ole hintaa, ei haittaa vaikka päätä hakataankin seinään.

Samyam on #YouTube has a great discussion and breakdown of what makes an #IndieGame. She also proposes an ‘Indie Score’ system to determine their actual indie-ness.

Example: In her intro she says #Cuphead was not an indie game, and neither is #Hades2 or #Expedition33 or #Mixtape. After watching this, I think she is absolutely right. The word ‘indie’ has become seriously muddled.

This weekend, I got to the first ending for Hades 2. That was really satisfying to be able to finish a game, though I could only do it by using the same build (wands, Ares to recover mana, Selene blasts, and a ton of dodging booms) to grind through the last eight stages.

I like how it ended and how the game continues on beyond that point. Plus, I've maxed out all the romanacable characters and almost every god/goddess.

This is a game I'm probably going to try getting through all the endings, mainly because it is just fun and worth the 29 minutes it takes for a single "run". I already know that the increased difficulty sliders are going to suck, each one adds 5-10 minutes to the run and my physical skills can't scale with them; there is a reason the Rivals (double boss) are so powerful but it requires me to learn all new patterns and bullet hells.

Overall, will play again.

I Remembered a conversation last year about eventually trying #Hades2 after sinking HELLA hours into #Hades 1 and completing the game on Heat 16 or 17.

After clearing H2 for the first time today i don't see myself spending much time w/ it.

It feels different, not better than H1: Omega attacks are welcome but the boons and weapons feel less cool/fun (with the exception of the greataxe. The greataxe is so fun it makes the other weapons feel disappointing). The mirror vs arcana is another example of "different" not better. The witchy vibe doesn't do anything for me. The casting circle makes sense, I just don't enjoy it as much.

I'm never pressed about the story of a Supergiant game, but I don't like the supporting cast of this game as much as H1. Nothing's clicking.

I recognize the allure of this and H1 is understanding the system well enough that you can clear the game with any weapon and arcana and form a workable build as you go. So far I don't enjoy enough of what the game offers to master it. In fighting game terms, I don't wanna play much of the roster, and this is a game that expects you to eventually do that.

Supergiant makes tight isometric action games with interlocking systems and dynamics and high levels of player expression. Mechanically, I love their games. The feel like the closest to that thrill and allure of a good soulslike, but in 2D.

Some people love the music or atmosphere in their games too. I'm not one of them. But I can understand why they've never made a sequel till now.

Super happy for Supergiant and Darren Korb getting multiple Game Awards noms. And wow, the Best Indie Game category is PACKED. I love it.

I still need to play Expedition 33, and was also reminded that I need to finish South Of Midnight when it got a couple nods. I was really enjoying it, but kept getting a motion sick headache.

I don't think #Hades2 is going to be a GOTY, but is going to be a contender. It's basically the same game but with a lot more content and refinements, and an slightly above average ending.

Anyway, great game to recommend for anyone. It's that good.
