  1. I got these Tintin-themed pillow cases in May last year.
Thinking about trying to recreate a picture (without characters) of this one next week 😎

(it probably won't be as “summery“ as that one though 🌧️🌨️)

  2. While visiting the Titantic Museum in Belfast yesterday I learned that the original captain of the Titanic was, in fact, Captain Haddock. He turned over command to Smith at the first port stop.

  3. Wednesday, it's Captain!
    (No »AI«-Slop.)

[Edit] I would like to give credit to @Scmbradley for the original idea, published as a text-only-toot.

  12. ‘We are at 50% of the quota we had’: boss of #UK’s last long-range trawler rues ‘squandered’ #Brexit hopes

The Kirkella used to bring in 10% of the #cod and #haddock sold in chip shops. But the post-#EU settlement means its quotas have been slashed. Can it survive?

  13. #Fish & #chips made with rock cod, and yellow potatoes. It’s a variation on the usual Atlantic or Icelandic #cod that I might use, or even #haddock. This turned out just “alright” but not really my preference relative to the traditional.
I sometimes cut the potatoes into medium-thin wedges, too, instead of batons.

Anyway… it’s good to experiment now and then. It’s how we improve. This was not a total loss.

  15. That Captain Haddock meme needed an update. (I know I’m not the first one to think of it, but anyways.)

  16. @dpwiz I can deeply empathize. I almost stopped using Nix for my project. I kept pushing because it feels like a better setup than #ghcup whose binaries I think are compiled to ignore #haddock comments to some extent so in #vscode the tooltips do not show the Haddock documentation for added (?) dependencies. It's very attractive with respect to a development env in Haskell in my opinion, but Nix sometimes feels like it causes bigger headaches.
