Guess what! I harvested another 400g of gorgeous habanero chillies today. I put them in the oven at 60° for 10 hours to dry them out. I'd already pickled the first batch (also 400g) in oil, and they were so good!
I'd absolutely love to hear any great ideas or recipes on how to make a large quantity of chillies keepable.

Oh, I can really enjoy watching the chillies ripen. But it is also a bit nerve-wracking trying to sort out when to pick them for their flavour without knowing exactly when they are ripe enough.

I'm a bit worried. My chillies are generally doing well, but I have just found this chilli fruit. It is the only one that is already turning orange (the rest are still green) but has a huge hole. Does anyone have any idea what is causing this?

Woo-hoo! My first chilli fruit started to appear.
I am a bit proud that I have managed to put the plants outside every morning to let the insects do the pollination.

I think I need to do some repotting :). My chilli plants grow very differently. Some are just little babies and others are quite big.
The smallest one in the picture is a plant that is always outside. As a newbie to chilli growing, I wanted to see if this would work.

I never expected to be so attached to chili plants.Three months ago I started with seeds and now they have become little bauties. A few days ago some of them looked a bit sick, but it seemed to be a lack of nutrition. They also survived a hailstorm. Some of my beloved chilli plants are getting strange leaves. The leaves look a bit crippled (sorry for the word).

My babies are growing so well. Now you can clearly see the difference between the two types of chillie plant: On the left a Habanero, a bit bushy, and on the right an Ufo, a taller plant.
Next week will be the first time I leave my sweethearts alone for a few days. I am curious to see how they look when I get back.

They are still inside but today I am going to prepare the garden so I can move the chillies outside as soon as the temperature allows. Which is not going to be today or tomorrow, because the weather forecast says it will snow, brrrrrr!

By the way, the repotting of the chillies went well. Now each plant has its own pot, but I will keep them indoors for a bit longer due to the weather forecast (storm and ground frost) for the next few days. Although it looks very sunny at the moment :)

I'm a bit fond of my cute chili plants.
Yesterday I did some transplanting. I put the seedlings from the growtabs into small terracotta pots with soil. Today I am enjoying watching them grow. I can't get enough of them....

I have a bumper crop of peppers, many of which will not get to peak heat before killing freeze. I have harvested a lot, made a few different blends of hot sauce, couple batches of salsa, couple big batches of chili, and frozen a few dozen.
But there must be 50 still-green habeneros and more still-yellow tabascos. Also maybe 20 jalapenos and a few lonely seranos, both of which are usually picked green anyway.

4 small to medium habeneros, 1 small "baby carrot" 1 small garlic clove, fermented 6 days, blended w pinch of xanthan gum.

I'm working on my 3d batch of homemade hot sauce. For the first batch, I used an online recipe for the fermentation method, used about a dozen habenero peppers, approximated other ingredient quantities. It was fantastic. 2d time I could not get habs (worldwide shortage), opted for serranos, read several more recipes, tweaked my approach, it was meh. This time I have 5 habs, read more recipes, not measuring anything, just winging it. Wish me luck!
