📣 Yet, once again, one of Neukölln's few accessible housing projects and political space, H48 is under threat.

Come join our rally on the 28th May at from 6:30 pm onwards to hear about the results of our round table discussion with the district council and the owners and tenants and demand better living for all.

Komm zu unserer Kundgebung am 28. Mai ab 18:30 Uhr, um die Ergebnisse unseres Runden Tisches mit dem Bezirksamt, den Eigentümern und Mietern zu erfahren und besseres Wohnen für alle zu fordern.

It is also illegal to turn living spaces into offices, as our landlord is trying to do.

Luckily, German law allows for some flexibility when it comes to what is written on paper versus what is practiced in reality - meaning that we have the chance to “prove” that this is indeed our home and has been for decades (Feststellung). This may take several years, but we have generations worth of documentation and witnesses on our side.

By helping us out, you not only support a diverse, loving, self-organized community, but you also help to preserve one of the few affordable living spaces left in an ever-gentrifying city.

Fight with us against the sellout of the city!

We are Stadt Sucht Leben (SSL), a shared flat of 13 people living together on the fourth floor of H48, an old factory building in Neukolln. We are calling for financial support because, as you may have heard, our entire building of around 60 people recently received cancellations of our contracts by our landlords. They also filed a “Feststellungsklage” - determination court case and an eviction lawsuit against us.

The crux of our legal case is that, while people have lived in our flat since the late 90s, the contracts were never changed from commercial to residential use. It is much more difficult to evict tenants with residential leases, whereas commercial leases can be canceled at any time every three to six months.

Come to our film screening series to learn more about the fight for our house and connect it with other housing struggles in Berlin and across the world! 📽🍿💥

In the last week of each month, we’re screening movies – from drama to documentary to animation – showing different perspectives on the right to housing. We’ve organized some special inputs and guest appearances, but most importantly we want to open a discussion about what WE can do against the housing crisis in Berlin.

Join us on August 28th for “Träume von Räumen” (2019), directed by Matthias Lintner:

“Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of new arrivals and mass tourists in Berlin Mitte there is an architectural ensemble, the ‘Kleine Bremer Höhe’. Since 1989 the collective housing estate for workers has served as a refuge to artists, punks and senior citizens. The director, filmmaker and resident Matthias Lintner, closely watches and listens to his house mates and neighbors, who have built a world of their own.

Kommt vorbei zur neuen Filmreihe in der H48!

Zusammen lernen wir mehr über unseren Kampf gegen Räumung und wie er mit anderen Kämpfen um Wohnraum in Berlin und weltweit verbunden ist! 📽🍿💥

Jeden Monat in der letzten Woche zeigen wir Filme - von Dramas über Dokumentarfilme bis hin zu Animation - die verschiedene Perspektiven auf das Recht auf Wohnen zeigen.

Dazu organisieren wir für euch ein paar Beiträge, aber vor allem wollen wir eine Diskussion darüber eröffnen, was WIR gemeinsam gegen die Wohnungskrise in Berlin tun können.

"Nahezu unbemerkt von neu Zugezogenen und den Touristenströmen, die heute die Berliner Mitte prägen, liegt die Kleine Bremer Höhe. Dieses Gebäudeensemble dient seit der Wendezeit seinen Bewohner*innen aus Künstlern, Punks und Rentner*innen als Refugium. Filmemacher und Hausbewohner Matthias Lintner bleibt nah an seinen Mitbewohner*innen dran, die sich hier ihre eigene Welt erschaffen haben.
