The Familiar Place in Milwaukee, Wisconsin has tabletop games, and has great tables to play role playing games on
I wasn't able to enjoy this while I was there. I was the only one there in the early afternoon and I don't really drink much.
If I was there with a group, If there was already a group there welcoming new game players, I'm sure I would have had a great time. The server and owner were wonderful to me, not yet a customer.
1983. Mobile, Alabama. The CSS (Conflict Simulation Society) has a game master for Traveler. Every spaceship in his campaign looks like a toaster. This is years before the "After Dark" Screensaver of flying toasters. His argument was there's no atmosphere in space and these large ships would be built in space and never land on a planet. Intentionally. One of the players (not me) proved him wrong about that.
"I got this job before Mr. Burns went nuts" is my current favorite bumper sticker

I wish I could go bowling just for fun, without the competition part.
So many tournaments.
Feel that way about tossing a disc around, too. Frisbee golf is fine but I'd rather just toss it back and forth.
Finding people who would want to do those things, just for fun, without making it into a scoring competition is difficult.
Missing whatever the ambition and competition thing is that so many others have.

Lanesboro, Minnesota has a small gaming convention this coming weekend called Gamesboro. Might bicycle to it Saturday to check it out if the trails are clear again. Still covered with snow and ice right now.

My father got this from a vendor in a marketplace in Monterrey, Mexico in the mid-1980s for 40 centavos.
If it's folded back correctly, it falls down in a block-by-block effect instead of straight down.
Just colored ribbons on blocks, but fun to play with.
I took a picture of both sides in case you want to make your own.
This is a pretty neat website of cartoons that teach you "how" to build small scale mechanisms. Fun for learners of all ages.

3rd panel is exactly what happened in the first D&D campaign I ran. Only ran 1 more and decided I liked playing it more than running it.
I loved this game. I was also very bad at it. But not as bad as I was at "Defender" which took my quarters in seconds instead of minutes.

Got my tetanus*, pneumonia, and 1st shingles shot today.
Figured I needed to before the dumbness gets even dumber.

*This said "Tetris" before I corrected it. Then wondered if it would stop game addiction or make someone a super gamer.
There's a bit in the documentary about the SNL writer Jim Downey "Downey Wrote That" where in the writer's room in Saturday Night Live, they play a "goo game" with goo and darts on a wall and I don't have the skills to do this but I thought it would make a great vertical scroll game with the goo being like "the blob" or a gelatinous cube and the darts being blockages put up by the characters.
C'mon, Google, if I wanted to share game scores, I would do it. Don't need you to decide that for me. Lousy of you to hitch other services to that decision.
Finished reading the T. Kingfisher book "A Wizard's Guide to Defensive Baking".
What a fun fantasy novel! Chuckled at some of the very funny dialogue and situations.
Recommended if you like fantasy.
I could absolutely see this as a module in a Roll Playing Game.

I really like the 2 and a half D art style of this "Wheel World" video 🎮 game.
Not into the racing aspect at all, but the customization part looks like a lot of fun to play around with.
