Why am I still seeing so many job ads for #Elementor sites?? #Gutenberg is bad enough, but at least it's native to #WordPress now and does the same thing.
Better yet though, stop using all of these heavy buggy drag-n-drop solutions that output junk code.
#ACF Flexible Layouts a good middle ground. Flexible enough to allow the client customization w/o breaking design guidelines, no junk code output or buggy admin, a bit of customization makes it even easier to use.

BORROWED STORIES
The Epic of Gilgamesh predates the Bible by at least a thousand years. Multiple mythologies share its themes, structure, sequence, and specific details. That's not coincidence or parallel evolution. It's borrowing. Take the flood. In Gilgamesh, Utnapishtim is warned by a god, builds a boat, loads it with animals, releases birds to find land. The gods regret what they've done. In Genesis: divine warning, ark, animals, birds, mountain landing, God's regret. Same sequence, same order. The […]https://ridiculousbharath.wordpress.com/2026/04/22/borrowed-stories/

I’ve had a lot of questions lately about block theme editors - so I wrote a bit about why I hate them and what I use instead.
Building Modular Themes with #ACF Flexible Content Instead of Buggy Builder Frameworks
-
Is it me or has #Wordpress move to the #gutenberg #blocks editor coincided with an increase in the #enshittification of the platform? I have been away a while and it just seems like the new block-enabled themes are crippled unless you buy a pro plan, then you need a pro plan for your blocks editor, and a pro plan for any additional blocks you need, then a pro plan for your caching, security, image optimization, SEO, etc. etc. etc. It's always kinda' been this way but now feels way worse.

Certes, les interfaces ont peu évolué durant des années. Celleux qui refusent Gutenberg et FSE restent sur une image vieillotte de TinyMCE, ou de panneaux “incompréhensibles” et lourds de page builders plus ou moins qualitatifs.
Hors, WordPress a changé !
Il a notamment intégré la logique #AtomicDesign depuis 2018 via #Gutenberg. Et là est la vraie plus value des designers contribuant à l’open source. Fini les complaintes larmoyantes, voilà des actions concrètes.

Jamie Marsland introduces the new Menu plugin created.by Mike McAlister from the Ollie theme.
Just wow. It looks like it could be a game changer and fix my biggest pain points with block theme menus.

Ahead of WordPress 6.8 Beta release and in absence of Anne McCarthy, the »Source of Truth« is published as a joint effort by Birgit Pauli Haack, Krupal Lakhia, Justin Tadlock, Jonathan Bossenger and JuanMa Garrido on the Gutenberg Times.
My highlight in WP 6.8 is the full-fledged Global Styles panel the Site Editor. I've been waiting for that literally for years.

Sarebbe a dir poco SCONVOLGENTE 😞

Ghost is an excellent platform for publishing. I used it a lot a few years back for publishing articles when it was headless - that was optimum. Compose at your leisure within your own local environment, then push it up to your own self-hosted instance.
Unfortunately, they let it fall into disrepair, left it unmaintained, and last I checked the Ghost desktop was nowhere to be found in the repo. One of the maintainers explained to me that they just didn't have anyone willing to maintain the app and so I migrated away from the platform myself.
Integrating #ActivityPub is a fantastic idea, and will give #WriteAs a run for the money, but the reasons for leaving #Drupal and #WordPress to publish on #Ghost aren't so compelling with editors like #Gutenberg exist now, along with the #WordPress_ActivityPub plugin.
I'm going to give it another looksee to review what happened to the elegant, #headless nature that Ghost used to espouse as one of it's key ingredients for using it in the first place. I just hope that they don't try to go the way of #OOo, #Bacula, and other #FOSS projects that were forked, and somewhat marginalized, as a result of decisions to force community versions into #Freemium products that lacked most functionality without fee based subscriptions. Lord knows, the last time I checked their managed hosting solutions for Ghost it certainly wasn't even competitively priced.
With this newfound revelation in the form of some kind of epiphany, let's hope their commitment to #Fediverse and FOSS exceeds that of their grasp for excessive monetization.

@hgg @pixolin
Ollie's Setup Wizard is great, but it should *not* be the task of a theme to enable beginners to build a site they like.Gutenberg Phase 2 is not really finished until the Site Editor enables beginners.
As of WordPress 6.3 the Site Editor is a good tool for people who know WP and can write a little Custom CSS.
It's not a good tool for beginners who know neither.
Ollie WP shows a possible way to get closer to that goal.
-
@pixolin That was quite a shock when "Pages" (re)appeared in the Gutenberg plugin a while ago.
And of course it's half baked. You can do a little but not all.
Just like "Navigation", "Styles" and "Library/Patterns".
What is the site editor trying to do?
Replace the "block editor for content of posts and pages"?Is there anyone we could ask where this is going to?
Or is this plane flying without a final destination? -

Until recently (including WP 6.1) the site editor was a confusing place to be (1).
In Gutenberg 14.8 the site editor received a new browse mode and now for the first time there is something like a intuitive workflow (2).
Apparently these changes are based on this vision by James Koster (3):
https://jameskoster.design/2022/08/24/revising-the-presentation-of-key-site-editor-features/
I hope that the site editor will be developed according to this idea and that e.g. global styles move to the left sidebar asap.
