I found this lone little guy at the pet store! They had no idea where he came from or that he was even there. looks like blond japan blue double sword, but the caudal fin is too green for that lineage. Am now breeding him with one of my blond females who carry lower sword and snakeskin gene. Let's see what comes of it! 😅

How would you do this? Using the Guppy programming language you can write programs with arbitrary control flow, function calls, classical logic and data types, dynamically allocated quantum and classical data, etc etc.
Since quantum computer time is very expensive, we also have a strong type (linear) system to catch many common errors at compile time.
It's open source. There is also a simulator called Selene you can use to run it. Check it out.

At the end of last year, I wrote a rather lengthy article for the swedish guppy club newsletter, hoping it would be published in the january 2025 release. Sadly, they haven't published it yet, apparently there has been too few contributions this year and they have yet to publish any newsletter at all.
It would be a waste to have it go unpublished, so I just finished translating it and posted it to my Medium.

Still my favorite #guppy line!
Back when I originally got my hands on them, the double sword expression and filigran was ~ 1/10 male. The rest were either bottom swords or lacked the filigran.
In the latest generation, they are all showing ds and filigran! even that one male with poor cadual fin in the video still show some trace of a top sword!
Gotta wait and see what next 1-2 gen looks like; but it'd be amazing if TS and filigran have jumped chromosome 😁

I got a new group of Full Gold #guppies the other day! Hopefully there won't be an issue with scoliosis this time. The two males I brought home also have near perfect head cover. Most of the store supplied ones have a poor head cover; which is not ideal for breeding because they are a pond line not aquarium line. Focus should be on top view.

More attempts at getting some good shots of the guppies, this time with the macro lens. Unlike the invertebrates in the tank, they are incredibly hard to shoot. A German website referred to them as “Wuselfisch” which basically translates to “fish that scurries and bustles about”, and boy do they ever!

this is a commercially sourced line of mine. lost most of them within the first week or so but not before there were some fry.
of those fry, this male in particular has grown particularly well and with a decent shape. i love the abundance of gold shimmering light within that silvery #zebrinus and galaxy gene.
currently one of my favorite lines, albeit i would probably prefer them with mosaic or grass tail of which i've seen bred by a fellow SGS guppy club member

It's a single executable that handles both the federation (using ActivityPub) and the frontend (using Gemini) aspects, while sqlite takes care of persistency. It should be lightweight and efficient enough to host a small community even on a cheap server, and hopefully, be easy to hack on.
tootik implements only a small subset of ActivityPub, and probably doesn't really conform to the spec.

The #BlueMoscow #Guppy is such a challenge to #photo. I've seen people capture stunning pictures of them but I got no clue how it's done because the 'blue' is from its iridophores so to have them all 'reflect' for the photo (see attachment) is not going to happen without some heavy duty light setup; which you can't do because the minute you try this strain has retained the unusual trait of deactivating color pigments when not in the mood.
Absolute stunners IRL in the #aquarium tho.

There is an entire subset of #aquarium enthusiasts who care more about behavior than the colors or shape.
To these #aquarists #guppies are meh. Heck, even some veteran #guppy folks will attests that guppies don't offer much in terms of interesting behavior.
But over time, I have seen a lot of surprising behavior. i.e. A #betta biting a male guppy followed by an entire swarm of angry black-eyed guppies collectively attacking said betta. Or one of my females who have learned to "unlock" pellets.

it's too bad double sword #guppy lines are slowly going extinct in favor of delta types for commercial reasons. people only want to keep and breed what sells the fastest; which are the big pompous fins and 'boring' monocolors.
this young vienna emerald male of my breeding group is an example of what i think is far more interesting than the delta types. in particular, the intense iridophores, multicolors, and more overall mobility unhindered by bulky finnage.

I had a female #guppy with a bright yellow tail drop a few broods. I’ve now noticed one offspring from the first brood with a bent spine, and a couple of them from the second brood as well. Bent spines can be genetic, it can happen during birth, or there could be other reasons. I’m questioning whether I breed any of their siblings, as they may be carriers of the deformity as well. For now we’ll let them grow out.
