V knihách Temné věže je to tajemná síla, která vede všechny živé (i neživé) tvory, přibližný ekvivalent osudu nebo předurčení.

KA lze považovat za průvodce, cíl, ale rozhodně není plánem - alespoň ne takovým, který by byl znám smrtelníkům.

Oficiální stránky Temné věže popisují KA následovně: "KA... znamená životní sílu, vědomí, povinnost a osud. Ve vulgátě, neboli v nízké řeči, znamená také místo, kam se jedinec musí vydat."

V knize (od Stephena Kinga) řádění upirů přežije, opije se a odjíždí autobusem z města pryč.

Stejně v knize i ve filmu ale ztratí víru v Boha.

This interior illustration for THE DARK TOWER VII by Stephen King is a scene from a chapter entitled "In the Haze of Green and Gold" which set the tone for the color scheme.

King also described the trees as being like the columns of a cathedral and I endeavored to capture this in his painting.
