A little, well, research-preview on my whole "analyzing Disney's Gummi Bears" world:
- The "World":
As up until season two, it seems most likely that the show plays in a part of today's Great Britain (if it plays on our Earth).- The architecture speaks for either British or mainland European.
- Many of the humans' names are English, Welsh, or the likes
- The gold coins used are called "sovereigns" in one episode. The "middle ages" were from around 500 to 1500, so, it's not the 1817+ sovereign, but the 1489+ one, which fits the "middle ages" time.
- Igthorn uses an hourglass. In and around Europe, these became common around the 1400sSo, just judging from these two seasons, the show plays in ~1500 AD, Britain.
More and changes once I'm further in. 😁

CW: Silly cartoon shipping, Gummibears
I never thought about it like that before, but I think I now like the idea of "shipping" Grammi and Zummi, when they finally find time in between research and housework.
I think that could be cute. I don't think there was any indication in the show for it, but that's what we have fanfics and headcanons for. 😁

I still think Sunni's purple hair didn't look bad in the episode "The Secret of the Juice".
She should've come back to dying her hair occasionally!

Alright, first three segments of Gummi Bear episodes re-watched and I'm taking all notes and screenshots I could possibly use for over-analyzing.
No...I have absolutely no clue what this will be of use for, I assume, like most of the things I do, for nothing. 😅
But I try to be thorough with that. 😅
Of course this certainly makes episodes need longer with all the breaks I need for note taking, but I guess that's part of the fun. 😅But for now: rest!

The Drink & Draw theme was Inseparable Duos. I've drawn lots of duos over the years, so I wanted some I've never drawn before. I started with Jake and Elmo, then a quick Wallace and Ladmo. Finally, I wanted a cartoon duo so I didn't have to worry so much about getting a physical likeness correct, and Drew suggested Duke Igthorn and Toadwart from the Gummi Bears.

The world of Disney's Gummibears seems to be something I always end up getting back to in some way.
I just used it as an example, and I'm immediately motivated about it again. The show and world just had so much potential for storytelling and even now so much left and so many continuations that would be possible.
I still have my two or so pages character description. One day I'll find an artist that can draw in a style similar to the show, is willing to draw from written description AND does reliably react and work, contrary to the first try. One day! 😁😅

Totally random realization:
Sir Tuxford from Disney's Adventures of the Gummi Bears doesn't wear any kind of tabard nor any other way of representing the coat of arms of Dunwyn.
Do with that information whatever you wish. But I just had to think about it when reading stuff about knights and Excalibur. 😁
Now, I'm certainly not someone for countries, kingdoms and their representation, but I assume in that world and times it would've been common for the captain of the knights to represent the kingdom. 😁

CW: DuckTales (2017) slight cameo spoilers
Let me over-analyze cartoons!
So, the show basically shows that it is part of the same universe as Gummibears.
The Gummibears, though, lived in a world with humans, who are absent in all other related shows, even the original DuckTales.
Considering that Scrooge calls himself and the others "humanity" they don't seem to differentiate between humans and anthropomorphic animals anymore, contrary to Gummibears.

Once again I have so many Gummibears fanfic ideas.
Mostly fun slice-of-life stuff, but also possible show-style adventures.
The show's world really still has much potential and as it mostly revolved around the small main cast and not the actual center of "Great Gummi" society, there's so much room for cultural or social interpretation, which is great because you can make up attitudes, festivals, etc.
But well...I kinda want a visual representation of my own fan character first. 😁

Alright, 7000 characters character description for my planned Gummibears character sent to the artist.
Let's see if it works out this time, because I toootally need more characters. 😅

After months of procrastinating I finally started writing my silly journal-style Disney's Gummi Bears OC insert fanfic...thingy.
I'm six A5 pages into it now although it's only the introduction so far that I want to keep short and with few details.
I need to hurry up, I need to finally get to the show characters and describe Sunni...erm...all of them! 😁
Ultimately this is all totally silly but well... it'll allow me to describe some scenes and thoughts.

Decided to draw Grammi Gummi after drawing practice this morning, working from a still from the show but changing up the style to be closer to all the stuff I drew prior this morning. #furryart #fanart #gummibears #disney

Soo The Gummi Bears cartoon series exists solely because Michael Eisner - the then CEO of Disney Inc - had a daughter who loved Gummy Bear Candy.Wow.
"Adventures of the Gummi Bears is an American animated children's television series created by Jymn Magon and produced by Walt Disney Television Animation. The series .. takes place in a fantasy world of medieval lands and magic, and focuses on the lives of seven mystical beings known as Gummi Bears. " - Wikipedia

Know what? I'll share some of my thoughts with you, no matter if you care!
- The main characters don't seem to be directly related, at least no relation words (mom, dad, sibling) are ever used. There's also no real story about their parents. So I'd assume that in their society blood-relation isn't really important but instead the whole society cares for children.
Or, well, at least this small group does, who knows. -
Make sure your girl looks at you the same way Sunni looks at Gruffi when she's trying to talk people into allowing her to do stuff!
Okay, but seriously, yet another screenshot with such an absolutely lovely expression! And this "upper arm grab". 🥰
(I don't ship Sunni and Gruffi, I just like Sunni and her expressions and everything. 😊)

I want a Disney's Adventures of the Gummi Bears open-world game like Far Cry or Horizon. (Erm, with less violence, I assume.^^)
With a big beautiful forest, tons of hidden old-Gummi artifact locations and quick-tunnels as quicktravel system.
Let me create my own character and also interact and fanboy about the original cast. ☺️

I can, by the way, also post other cute cartoon girl screenshot, not only Dot Warner!
I can't imagine I never posted these, but as I mentioned the Gummibears one again, just have two cute moments with Sunni from the episodes. Those are screenshots, nothing artistic from my side, as usual, but hey, Sunni's cute. 😊
(Okay, writing the alt-text I'm sure I posted those before...maybe auto-delete time was reached.)

I'm sorry, of course it wasn't okay of me to write the previous post without linking the Swedish intro. ;) Here you go:
There's also an extended version, with lyrics overlaid in the video:

I've made the mistake of listening to the Russian version of the theme song.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kRy5veaRL4g
The chorus starts with "мишки Гамми" ("gummi bears") like the English one does. But that's four syllables instead of three ("mishki gammi"), and now that's how it's stuck in my head and the English¹ version feels off, and … argh.
¹ and German, for that matter, which goes "Gummibär'n", i.e. drops the E to make it fit in three syllables

Damn this song brings back childhood memories. Think I should do a rewatch 😂
What always got me – and still does! – is the flute melody in the background of the second verse. I'm sorry, yes, this is a children's afternoon cartoon, but: this is just masterful composing.
Also, here's a video of the actual songwriters reacting to covers:
https://youtu.be/BYE6foEfKp8 (21min)And that's also where I found this a cappella version, a real gem:
