Lessor Black-backed Gull ‘RHRF’, Havergate Island, Suffolk. Ringed there as a chick in 2016. Next sighting was El Jadifa, Morocco in March 2020, then seen back annually on Havergate since 2021. #nature #birds #gulls #birdmigration

Herring gull ‘VNF’. Ringed as a chick on Havergate Island, Suffolk, on 27.6.14. Recorded on Guernsey, Channel Islands, in Aug 2014 then the French Atlantic coast in Feb 2015 and the following two winters. Recorded back at Havergate in April 2017, were all subsequent sightings have been recorded except for a record from Dungeness, Kent on 03.03.18. #birds #gulls #birdmigration

I took a short camera walk on my lunch break today. It's been lovely cold but sadly that also means almost no wildlife to pose fo photos.
These four #gulls drifting on the wind though. Three of them seem almost like yungsters, and one has clear adult feathering.
They were way too far to see this but the images zoom well enough. It's been just as grey as the cloudy background sugests.
They seemes to enjoy the wind. I enjoyed the walk.

During a recent foggy morning, the local yacht club was treated to the sight of a gazillion gulls resting on the rooftops of their storage sheds. It was very Hitchcockian.

Final ring information recieved: Two Herring Gulls with yellow rings N1:W and X8:W both were ringed in 2014 and seen multiple times since, but only ever either at Walney or in the local area, quite a contrast to the Lesser Black-backs who enjoy trips to Spain and North Africa!
