Maker Forums has been such an interesting place, and cool things keep happening. A year and a half ago, someone showed up with an idea for making a pedal steel guitar (something that this classical music fan didn't even know existed) that could allow more versatile tuning electronically than is feasible purely mechanically.

He started prototyping, but life got in the way and he didn't finish his build yet.

A few weeks ago, a new forum participant showed up. It turns out he had already completed a similar build successfully. 😮

Recent progress:
Routed a recess for the electronics cavity cover; planed the cavity cover flush with the back, using a hand plane.

Next steps:
Choose an F-hole design and location, and cut it out!
Route openings for pickups; drill holes for knobs and output jack.

Recent progress:
Glued on the flame black walnut back along with a layer of black veneer. Trimmed the walnut & veneer flush to the body.

Next up:
Routing out a recess for the electronics cavity cover, and laying out where the F-hole is going on the top.
