Finally took some time to play with #Guitarix and #QJackCtrl to figure out playing through my desktop. Took quite a few browser tabs and pseudo random UI clicks to figure out the connections and then a few more to get the latency down, but unlike in Windows I was finally able to have Youtube and my guitar playing together. Yay noodling!

Also currently in process of bulding and packaging guitarix to later add it to the aports testing (alpine) but the thing is that even though my APKBUILD is fine the guitarix latest github release is somewhat broken - it throws g++ error and quits, while git branch of it works just fine...

"#Linux has gotten pretty good" I tell myself as I'm surrounded with an entire environment of desktops, laptops, and servers all running Linux, but still can't reliably keep my #audio routing working every time I open #Ardour on #UbuntuStudio (not asking for help/solutions, just annoyed)
When it worked, I liked the tones I was getting out of #Guitarix and wanted to record something, but a big point of digital #recording is reproducibility and I can't even depend on my projects to reopen intact.

Je souhaite utiliser une guitare sous CachyOS (Arch Linux) via QjackCtl + Guitarix.
Je fais parvenir le son jusqu'à Guitarix mais impossible de le renvoyer sur le système, il n'y a pas d'entrée "system playback_1" dans QjackCtl :(

Je pige jamais rien aux indications de l’accordeur de Guitarix.
Les LED bougent toujours dans le même sens et la flèche droite qui pointe vers la gauche ne s’allume jamais, il n’y a jamais que celle de gauche qui est toujours jaune.

I use #Ardour for producing all my tracks, #Carla for testing and experimenting with plugins, #SurgeXT & #NoiseMaker as synths, various stuff by brummer10 (#guitarix, ratatouille, ...) and #NAM and #Aida for guitars, #LSP plugins for IRs and samplers etc. #x42plugins for EQ and MIDI processing, #Cardinal for sound design & a lot more #FLOSS tools and plugins.
Expanding the scope of the question, I use #FAUST and #DPF for writing my own plugins and use them in a lot of my tracks.

#Guitarix is an effects/"amp-sim" package. Fun for practicing, or making a toy keyboard roar
#Mixxx is live DJ software, busy gui but works great
#PureData is a do-anything toolkit. At its most basic, it can turn ANY number change into a midi message...
