🎂 The #PédaleVite project is 10 years old today. Time passed so quickly!
At this date I ordered a first batch of electronic components to do some preliminary tests.
I remember that very early design ideas were based on a Raspberry Pi 2, then I realized the Pi 3 was released just one month ago and picked it up for the project.
This was the core of Pédale Vite v1, which is still working and maintained. -

- Rpi Zero 2W selkään wavesharen USB HUB hat, jossa USB-UART sovitin integroituna. Data liikkuu #beagley-scarlett ja #1m2labwidowmaker välillä USB-serial datana #DIY -protokollalla, jonka nimesin SATBUS -nimellä. Widowmakeriin on mahdollista USB:n kautta liittää satelliittipedaleja, jonka kautta sateliitit juttelevat widowmakerin kanssa, joka hoitaa puheen PiPedalin suuntaan. Widowmaker ottaa virtansa suoraan USB-B:n kautta scarletilta.
Widowmakerin näytöllä näkyy valittu preset, jota voi ohjata rotaryllä tai pipedalin kautta.
Pukkaan tästä repon, kun saan python -koodit jekkasemaan, vielä ois muutamia bugeja ratkottavana.

The Meris Polymoon is—by far—the best delay pedal I've ever come across, both sonically and in terms of feature set. Audio is absolutely pristine, the analog signal remains unaltered throughout, and as well as nailing basic tones there are no end to the creative possibilities. You can create presets, and you can run the whole thing via midi if you need to.

And trying to incorporate a slew of analog pedals takes you into the world of midi loop switchers, and then the pedal board gets too big to really do fly dates.
If getting together the required palette requires some kind of compromises with digital, then it's increasingly seeming like some sort of modeller might be worth looking at. So I reached out to Neural DSP...

I finished a little guitar pedal prototype. I like this dumb little L format of cut 2×4 and wood faceplate so I can still swap components out without having to unplug anything. #guitar #electronics #guitarpedal #distortion

I finally found the classic metal sound I was looking for. I don't have the budget or the space for a full-size tube amp, and digital isn't quite the same. But this little guitar pedal sounds near enough to a hot-rodded Marshall amp in a tiny box. Joy.

Picked this guy up yesterday for a super clearance price, and it will serve nicely as a "whatever I need at a given moment" addition to the rig (currently = just a "moar" button)

Spent a couple weeks now struggling with my arthritis trying to play a fairly straightforward acoustic guitar part. So frustrating that something I could have handled easily a couple of years ago is now impossible for me to play. So after some research I’ve decided to take the plunge and I’ve ordered a Boss AC-3 acoustic simulator pedal. Reviews are all good, and I’m willing to eat my own words about pedals and give this one a shot. #GearSquad #MusicProduction #Guitar #GuitarPedal

Continuing this paused project started a few years ago… Meanwhile the Raspberry team released the #RP2350 which is a significant upgrade to the #RP2040, offering more power for signal processing.
The PCB is populated with the SMD components and the lowest through-hole parts.
I started the mechanical work. I only have a hand-held drill and as usual I struggle to place the holes right. 😬
Before continuing soldering, I have to check if everything is fitting and vertically aligning well.

Fixed my favourite #guitarpedal today: the #diy purple platypus (but red llama and green ringer work separetely instead of both on like in the Way Huge version).
The red llama was the first #pedal I soldered over more than 15 years ago. Soldered a lot more pedals since than, but the llama remains my favourite overdrive pedal for #guitar .
The purple platypus is one of only a few pedals I own that are not diy projects. Bought it mostly because it was a bargain.

A few years ago I designed a pedal with a complex effect (but just a single knob and an expression pedal as controls) for a guy but in the end that wasn’t what he was looking for and he didn’t pick it up. So I had this pedal stuck with me. 😑
Recently a friend asked me for a long delay effect with a 15 second memory and the footswitch only muting the delay input (FX always on duty). It was an opportunity to #recycle the old pedal, based on a #DaisySeed board. So I drilled new holes in the enclosure to host 3 knobs.
