Seabird breeding season is in full swing on the Braunann mór (The big seastack) at the Cliffs of Moher. A noisy spot, with over 6,000 birds coming and going as they feed their chicks. Mostly Guillemots and Kittiwakes with some Razorbills and Shags scattered amongst them.

Excuse fuzziness. Operating an iPhone whilst bobbing like a cork on water isn’t easy!!
Today, Mothman and Mothman’s Mr Spouse went #wildlife searching around the Scilly Isles, firstly on a boat where we saw #puffins, #guillemots and #razorbills, atlantic #seals and a distant #PeregrineFalcon.
Not on photo, but we also saw #cormorants and even bagged a couple of #shags

Maraceux moine (Fratercula arctica)Où et quand l'entendre. En #France, le #MacareuxMoine ne niche plus que sur quelques îles en #Bretagne, où on l'observe d'avril à juillet. C'est à ce moment-là que les oiseaux chantent depuis leur terriers. Hors de la saison de reproduction, on les observe essentiellement en mer, au large. Ils sont alors silenceux.
Niveau d'écoute. Le chant de l'espèce est quasi impossible à entendre en contexte français puisqu'il n'est émis que sur les rares colonies de nidification inaccessibles et porte peu.

Chant. Le chant, qui est le plus souvent émis, est un ronronnement évoquant un miaulement de chat nonchalant (D1). Cette sonorité est caractéristique : elle correspond à un son plus sourd et constant quel les cris saccadés des #pingouins et #guillemots qui peuvent fréquenter les mêmes habitats. -
