Hey solarpunks! Have you heard? Aleya will be hosting a solarpunk get-together on Monday, April 20! The Stellar Lunarpunk TTRPG Live Action Roleplay (LARP) Virtual gathering and Real Life Planting
Basically how it works is gathering virtually at the beginning of the day, creating your character according to The Stellar's guidelines, then spending the day planting things to collect as many points as you can.
If you've been procrastinating on your spring planting (or seedbombing the local abandoned construction site), this is a great way to get it done, and make friends and have fun along the way with other solarpunks.
To read more about the event, including details on when and how to gather virtually, check out https://fastfrwrd.info/gatherings/the-stellar-4-20-larp-live-action-roleplay-pollination-campaign/

Essay - How the climate conversation went punk
From #SlowFashion to #GuerrillaGardening, the internet has transformed solarpunk, a literary movement, into an alternative lifestyle trend.
Written by Sonal Gupta
Mumbai | Updated: November 20, 2025Excerpt: "In 2020, #SolarPunkFarms cropped up in California as a #communal living space whose inhabitants grow and share their own food. The leftovers are sent to local markets. They have designed their #greenhouse after the animations of #HayaoMiyazaki. In fact, the works of the #StudioGhibli founder have found resonance among solarpunks, as he places nature as a character in his plots. In his visions, nature is at its most beautiful—lush greenery, rays of light, the dew on leaves, and the wind blowing life into trees.
"Though these changes are encouraging, it’s ironic that as we move past dystopian visions, the #capitalists of the world, running in the #AI race, threaten to steer us to the very future. The use of AI itself depletes water resources and generates immense amounts of greenhouse gases and electronic waste. If we are to live in a world where technology exists in harmony with #nature, #activists, stakeholders, and individuals must actively call for more #SustainableSolutions, #AffirmativeAction, and policy changes.
"If cyberpunk warned us of what happens when technology consumes humanity, solarpunk invites us to imagine what is possible when humanity reclaims technology. It reminds us that hope, like sunlight, is a renewable resource too."

Kindergarten children dropped seeds in the crack of the sidewalk to see what would happen
In a world inundated with technology and digital distractions, it's easy to lose sight of the simplicity and charm of nature. A recent guerrilla gardening experiment by kindergarten children reminds us of nature's resilience and its ability to flourish in the most improbable spaces. The children did an experiment in guerrilla gardening by dropping seeds into sidewalk cracks and observing the results. At first glance, it might have appeared to be a fruitless endeavor - what could possibly […] -

#November is planting month for my #torreypine nursery! I put my first three trees into the ground today, and scouted a great fourth location near my house here in City Heights. I’ve got sixteen more trees to plant around my neighborhood, then in December, it will be time to stratify and plant more seeds for next year! #guerrillagardening #nativeplants #sandiego

It's heartbreaking if i think about all of it too much, but I'm attempting to utilize the Fediverse to organize and network in case the resistance becomes more literal than figurative.
I'm encouraging community Resilience efforts, which include #GuerrillaGardening, focusing on #pollinators, alt forms of communication such as
(#SelfHost #fediverse instances, awareness of mass campaigns such aswheat paste posters, #HAMRadio, #morsecode). #Sneakernet #Wifi #adhocI think that we should focus on a more local and distributed food supply & coop network. Even if the fascists don't take over completely, it will help to mitigate suffering from climate change. Focusing on seed bombing, especially #Milkweed to help the #endangered #MonarchButterflies, and other pollinators. This includes nectar producing wildflowers. This is all part of a move towards #sustainability & #permaculture

We did a mini distro to test out our new recipe. Spanish Needle (also known as Romerillo and Blackjack) is in full bloom right now in South Florida. While capitalism would rather kill it as a weed, it’s actually a superfood!
It formed the base for a three bean soup (garbanzo, lentils, and black) and was wonderful. We didn’t intend to distro, but we had so much left over that we liberated some coffee cups from 7/11 and gave out 7 meals. And now we have a recipe plan for Saturday!
We spoke with folx who saw the police sweep the encampments near 7 Ave and 17 St in Overtown. “They’re killing people, and now they want to ship us off to some island” said one, referring to the now defunct plan to build a “sanctioned encampment” on Virginia Key. “Ya they come by, we never know when” said another. This juxtaposition of cruelty and commonality is the same that we’ve heard for the last year. Miami’s war against houseless folx continues.
We won’t speculate whether or not the mutual aid group that was distributing food — with a permit — about 2 miles directly north of the sweep were aware of the sweep. Police like to sweep when there are the fewest number of people at the encampments, such as during a food distribution in the area. This is why we encourage all to never ask for permission!
