Final day at Hillside. Fav band so far today is the Estonian girl band shishi with Montreal’s Bye Purula a close second. Waiting for Cowboy Junkies followed by Angine de Poitrine. There is already an influx of polka-dotted patrons filling the audience.
Here’s a pic of us happy to have found a bit of shade!

Today’s Hillside was cut short for us. My back couldn’t take it and I needed to get home and lie down. But while we were there we enjoyed the Estonian band Puuluup. We are sad that so many of the bands we’re interested in don’t have cds available in the merch shop. Seems records are the preferred physical medium. #HillsideMusicFestival #guelph #ontario #canada #music

No way. #TheDarcys played with #MaeMartin for their entire set. I guess they’re childhood friends. Enjoyed Mae’s performance and afterwards, heard #TellItToSweeney which was a fun riot. Squirrel Nut Zippers with a Nina Hagen flair. So tired now and two days to go. Goodnight. #music #HillsideMusicFestival #canada #ontaio #guelph

At Hillside for the first time. Just saw The Darcys and they were amazing. Incredible vocals and stage presence. Can’t believe they aren’t superstars. Or are they? I know nothing about the current music scene. Super excited about Mae Martin’s set at 8 and I think The Darcys will do a song with them. I have a huge crush on Mae Martin so this is a special treat!

Caps off to haskaps!
These tiny torpedos of fleeting fruity goodness aren't common in this part of Ontario, but Strom's in Guelph does! This week's jam-packed column also includes a summer cocktail recipe

“ #WestNile virus spreads through a transmission cycle involving birds and mosquitoes, primarily in rural and agricultural areas.
It is being monitored in #Saskatchewan, #Manitoba, #NWT and #Ontario.
Yet in Ontario, surveillance is largely concentrated in cities and suburbs, leaving rural areas, where the virus actually circulates, underrepresented.
A dead crow found in the City of #Guelph tested positive for West Nile virus on June 2, 2026.”
