One of the 'ceri' at the festa in Gubbio. The ceri are 5 metres tall, weighing almost 300kg, and are topped with a cartoon (but revered) saint. They are 'erected' to great ceremony and then paraded around the town on the shoulders of the men of the town before being raced to the top of the mountain. The ritual is centuries old but probably has older pagan origins and is the highlight of the year in this small Umbrian town.
