I'm quite disappointed than no one in tech press asked Jensen Huang did he ever thought that selling first GeForce GPUs 26 years ago would lead to his products being used to kill, maim, arrest and torture people en masse all over the world in 2026?

Ugh, what's widely considered the best graphics card of all time, the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080Ti is seeing driver support end this month (along with several other models).
I've been using this card for 8 years and an RTX-3080 is not an upgrade compared to it. It's significantly faster than the RTX-3060 for non-raytraced games (like No Man's Sky, my game) and has 11GB of RAM, 3 GB more than the 3080.
This is painful news.
I play latest No Man's Sky all Ultra settings at 2560x1600 and get avg around 75-85fps (ranging from 60 - 140 depending on the scenery).
Painful news, indeed.
This videocard is the best money I have ever spent on any piece of computer hardware in my lifetime. Truth. I paid $750 for it in early 2018.

I'm considering change to an #electric vehicle in 2025. The more I read about #EV hot hatches like the #Alpine #A290 and #ID3 #GTX, the more I realise I'd have more craic driving the cooking models fast.
Neither seem to be fast or engaging enough, and the driving experience of even "entry level" hatches are a million times better than hatches were in the 80s or 90s.
R5 is about 500kg lighter than the VW, (1.5T vs 2T)

Anyone have any thoughts on the #intel #arc A380 versus a #Nvidia #GTX 1630 for #jellyfin encoding? I'm going to pass it through to a VM in Proxmox and I'm a little worried about Arc and it's weird Resizable Bar requirement.
Both are cheap and I'm torn between #nvenc and #av1.
Both is the answer my heart says since they're kinda cheap. But my desire to be a bit more frugal says one for now.
