The #AlspSoil_Lab & #BiodiversityMonitoringSouthTyrol are saying goodbye to Dublin and the #GSB2023 from above (the Three Rock Mountain) and are heading - obviously - to the next mountains (Glendalough) 🤠
It was a pleasure and a joy to meet all the #SoilBiodiversity people.

Reflecting on #GSB2023, I wonder if without the leadership of @theGSBI & the fabulous @DianaWallSoil we would all still be focused on our own little favorite organism group, rather than soil biodiversity overall.
Even in specialist talks I saw, the big picture was always there.

Enjoyed the #GSB2023, my first major conference in a while. It was great to see everyone again (or for the first time in 3D), and also to meet new people.
Quite exhausted now....😅

Besides the usual academic talk, it’s been great to contribute to #GSB2023 in an additional, artistic way. Thanks to the organising committee for inviting me to display my macrophotography in the reception hall!

Day 2 of #GSB2023. Tom Crowther demonstrates how studying functional characteristics of #SoilBiodiversiteit can be integrated in earth system models and help us understand #SoilFunctioning across the globe.
Next step is to exchange those insights with those people living with #nature, with the Restor platform.
Great inspiration as we go into the parallel sessions with an array of soil biology research.

And I am off to my 40 min trek though sunny Dublin to the #GSB2023 conference venue. I will try without maps...feeling brave this morning.

Recounting another highlight from yesterday's #GSB2023 plenary session:

I really appreciated @Mike_VanNuland 's nuanced and excellent talk on mapping mycorrhizal diversity, with an explicit focus on uncertainty.

Today at #GSB2023 don't miss my workshop on
'Threats to #SoilBiodiversity caused by multiple concurrently acting factor of global change'.
It's at 16:30 at ALE 1, E117 - O'Brien Building .

The goal is to build community around this topic and to exchange ideas.

Packed first day at the #GSB2023 ended with a lovely dinner with the crew of SPUN @spununderground ; thanks @KiersToby et al.
